He did an interview last night, and he said he was dropped from his label a few days ago! How terrible   . It's probably for the best, but yeesh it's only been 6 months since ADD came out. Now he can have some more freedom which is good, he was so constrained, and they really really messed everything up for him, they didn't do anything right! I feel so awful.
He said he was with 19 and they signed him over to Clive, and he said after he figured out how Clive and his people operate he was dissapointed and he wasn't handeled correctly. I guess it's kind of bittersweet. He sounded more confused and lost than anything right now

Oh wow, this does surprise me - poor Blake Makes me all the more grateful that Chris didn't make it further than #5, he has more freedom to do as he wants. Blake will be fine, once he gets out of the shackles that Arista put on him.

Now that he is dropped I bet a cake tour would be easier to have done...
I feel bad for Blake, but I bet someone else will pick him up =]

I feel bad for Blake. But the fact that he was dropped is probably/will be a good thing in the long run.

To be honest, I am not surprised. But I wish Blake all of the best. I wish we were back to the old mentoring days. You know, like artist development from the Motown days...when record companies cared about their artists.
Hopefully someone can help to craft Blake as an artist instead of re-doing him all together. He was very smart on Idol. Now, he just needs a smart album and a smart promotion plan.

I totally agree with you Storie. Unfortunately those days are over, and all the record companies care about is the almighty dollar. Hopefully Blake will be better off, because he has been butting heads with those execs for a while now.

well said! I think the exces see it as a race to see which artists can get their cds out faster so they can sell more. I think the execs see it as quanity over quality. I don't think got the chance to make the cd that he really wanted to make.

He DID get the CD he wanted. I think it's just not right for him to be so constrained. He does the pop like ADD.. but then he does techno, looping, hip hop, trance... and there is no room for that.
and yea SO much butting heads, poor baby. I love the album so much, and they just messed it all up, and gave up in a matter of a few months, He said he's gonna blog later about it

Well the latest is his contract ended, and they didn't give him the option for a new album. He's still with 19 Recordings.. sounded like everything is ok!
So weird 1 year 1 album deal? Odd.

I really liked A.D.D.! Right after the album was released Blake was added on as an opening act at a concert that I already planned to go too! The cd is great but Blake's talent is more amazing live. The cd doesn't do his talent justice  It was just Blake and his drummer. This show wasn't in the plans, Blake was added at the last minute(about 16 hours before the show). I was able to watch his sound check at the concert. To make matters worse, management at the venue didn't want to let him sound check at all(because it was past time for the doors to open). Needless to say Blake got his way and sound checked:).
I think Blake will have a hard time finding a label who will accept his talents for what they are. I really hope he finds one though cause I would love to hear a Cake orignal ;) I think they may try to mold him into something he's not and he won't let that happen. I want more Blake music.
I'm sure that whenever he writes the blog he will say what he really feels because he doesn't hold anything back. That's another reason I like him.
