I dont like this at all. First of all, adding a new judge means that they will be cutting performances shorter than they already are. I know that they want 2 males and 2 females to even it out... but still... I think its too much.
Anyway... there is a video on the american idol website of the new judge getting interviewed. It sounds like she will be like Simon.... she's going to tell it like it is and may be harsh at times.

That's really stupid. There's not enough about the contestants now and now it will be cut even shorter to allow her time? That sucks a whole lot. I don't like it either  if they wanted to change sometthing they shoul dhave just dropped Paula.

I love the idea. We need a balance and a professional opinion. Singing critique from someone who writes songs...imagine that?
Paula, Randy and Simon know NOTHING about vocals and vocal technique. They critique based on how they are feeling that day. I'm looking forward to this new judge. Maybe we can weed out some of the bull crap in the preliminaries before they get to Hollywood and subsequently, to the top 20.

I'm just wondering how many times we're going to have a split decision/tie and who or what will be the tie breaker  I'm just kinda over Idol since Chris, so I really don't care either way what they do...it's all in an effort to keep the ratings up I'm sure.

I'm with you Meames, I don't really care what they do and your right, how are they going to decide during auditions if two say yes and two say no.... who is the tie breaker. It's all for ratings no doubt, and IMO, if there is no Chris then who the  cares. Also IMO Season 6 was the best all the way around. I didn't break my neck to watch it last year and I highly doubt I will this year, if I'm home I might watch.

I read an article that said Simon was the tie breaker. I don't know how it will work, but it will change the entire dynamic ofthe show. I guess the songs will go from 1 minute 30 seconds to less then that if we have to listen to 4 judges. I'm with you Meames and RL. I really don't care.

Well in the past, when they had a guest judge, if it's a tie, then the person goes through to Hollywood. So if it's 2 and 2, then the person still goes to the next round.
I don't think they will cut the songs. I think they will cut the BS-ing though between the judges and Ryan. They may even cut the video packages.
I really don't care if they do in fact cut the song. Either you can sing or you can't. We'll know in the first bar. Also, they still got the full iTunes track going for them anyway.

This will either work out really well or not at all, imo. I'm glad about it, because I'm so sick of all the judges. It's all gotten so fake. But I shouldn't be talking since I'm probably not watching this season anyway. lol.

i just read about the new judge in the Seattle Times today. I think it's interesting that they want to add someone new. I guess will see how it works out.
