OK, so wanting to get the ball rolling on this BEFORE I leave for a month...I put word out to Chris Richardson, Jordin, Chris Sligh (Thanks Risa), Blake Lewis & David Archuleta (thanks CindyLooHoo), Elliott (thanks Harleywoman) to see if it would even be possible to try and arrange something like this for the NEXT St. Jude Marathon December 5th 2009. (If you read my review over in the other thread you know what I'm talking about).
Well Chris Sligh is interested and will do whatever he can to be there, Chris Richardson is very interested and wants me to keep him informed.
I have sent a message to St. Jude and will be calling them tomorrow to see where we go from here in trying to get this event off the ground and running. Risa from the FroPatro and Tammy (Amanda's mom) are willing to help and will do whatever they can.
Wanted to let you know what's happening so far...it's not much, but it's a start.
I'd LOVE for as many RICHNESS peeps as possible to make plans to be in Memphis TN in December, whether this concert takes place or not...we still need to walk for Amanda.

EDIT: Oh and in addition, I forgot to mention I have asked Creativemind to create a video for Amanda's Idols to promote the walk for December. It will have pictures of Amanda with her Idols, video of the walk last year and various pictures of Amanda, all to Free by Elliott. This will be great for us to use to promote the event as the time draws near.

So is the plan to throw a concert before the actual walk in December?

Tried posting this THREE TIMES earlier Ugh!

Spoke to the Director of the marathon today, and I am encouraged that he did not completely shut the door...unlike the sound of the auto response email I received yesterday, which was more like "Thanks, but no thanks." I think the fact that I was able to drop names in there, like Elliott, Blake Lewis, Chris Richardson, Chris Sligh and Phil Stacey along with Jordin Sparks helped Smile

He said that St. Jude, for legal and fiscal reasons cannot organize or sponsor a concert, however if we could find someone or an organization that would host and organize it, they would be happy to come alongside and promote it along with the marathon and would even go as far as include it in their Heroes package offering it as an incentive to the Heroes Pasta Dinner the night before the marathon.
So, we need to find someone or an organization that is willing to do this and then connect them to St. Jude. I do have a some peeps working this from different angles, and through various artists, however if anyone can offer suggestions or guidance, we sure would appreciate it. Bless him, he was super nice to me and by the time our conversation ended he was offering up suggestions, so I'm thinking he's on board. I suggested FedEx Forum or AutoZone park as possible venues and he told me that the GRIZZLIES and the University have first dibs on those locations, but not to worry there are plenty of other venues in Memphis we could use such as The Orpheum theater Smile

I followed up our conversation with an email and pics of Amanda with Idols at St. Jude and contact info for him, should he need it. I explained to him I was leaving town for a while and so I wanted him to have contacts. Bless him, he even wished me safe travels Smile

Risa from the FroPatro just got through doing a small benefit concert with Chris Sligh and it was no small task, VERY time consuming, expensive and a challenge, and that was just with ONE artist in a church in Little Rock!! Shocked

She is assisting with our efforts as much as she can, but she really is burned out for now.

Anyway thats the latest update...will keep you posted. Tandt is a contact person, so she will keep you informed if there are any further developments while I'm gone Smile

This is an amazing Idea! honestly! I am so proud of you ladies... I have been putting money aside, because I made a promise that I would be there and I am going to be! I am surprise St. Judes can not do a concert but I am glad they are willing to be a part of it if we can put it together. You girls rock! I am willing to help any way I can just let me know... =]
