Did ya'll hear Jordin's just released song BATTLEFIELD off her new album? I LOVE it!!  I read that Ryan Tedder wrote it

I guess I'm in the minority here. I'm not crazy about the song, but I LOVE Jordin so I hope it does well. Sure wish she and HHC would get together. Even if he could write one for her it would be great for him.

I think the song's gonna grow on me. I'm not in love with it right now, but then again, I didn't like Tattoo too much at first either.

Venona, I predict that this song will crack at LEAST the top 10. Not saying that it's going to #1, but it will crack the top 10. I mean if "My Life Would Suck Without You" could top the charts, I have NO problem thinking that "Battlefield" can do the job. This will probably be Jodin's biggest hit to date.
On a personal note, I LOVE the song. Very smart song and I love Ryan Tedder, so I'm a little biased.

I beg to differ Storie my love.
Suck without you has a few things that explain it's success
1. It's got a driving back beat and dance club vibe
2. It's got a Big chorus, a Clarkson trait, that lends
itself to singing along at the top of your lungs
(I recall HHC saying he did that a one point)
3. It's got a catchy bridge
I think Battlefield can't make up its mind on
exactly what it wants to be. the melody is def pop
but some of the phrasing is hip hop and for me
it just never gets into a grove
Plus, the biggest thing for me is the fact that
love is not/should not be a battlefield.
Who doesn't love Tedder?
So far, the one song I really loved from Jordin
was the duet with Chris Brown, No Air
she really can sing, she just doesn't always sing
what I like

V, I would argue that the chorus of "Battlefield" is very catchy. Also, didn't we learn that "Love is a Battlefield" from Pat Benetar back in the early 80's
I agree with your point with Kelly's song. But I don't agree that the phrasing makes it hip hop. To me, her phrasing isn't much different than Maroon 5's or even the song's co-writer, Ryan Tedder's. It's definitely a pop song, because urban radio would not play it. But I can see my young black sistas diggin' this song as a guilty pleasure. Very vocally rich song...which is exactly what I wanted from Jordin. I don't think Tattoo gave us that.
As far as the comparison to Beyonce, I don't think Jordin's a young Beyonce. Although I very much prefer Jordin's vocals over B's. Beyonce is an entertainer. Jordin is a singer. Just like Britney's an entertainer, Christina is a singer. Nothing's wrong with any of them...they are just different.
