· Quote

I only told a couple of you about this because there were people in my own family that didn't know about this. Now that everyone who's supposed to know knows, I would like to solicit the prayers of my second family, The Richness.

My dad is very early in stage 1 of prostate cancer. We have a long road ahead of us, but I'm confident that all is going to end well. We will know when his surgery is going to be scheduled sometime this week. So please keep him in your prayers leading up to surgery. I will keep Meamesy posted when I am in the hospital so she can keep everyone here posted.

Also, we found out that my dad has Pagets disease in his left hip. I don't know too much about it. So if anyone can give me some information about it, I would greatly appreciate it. I just know that it has something to do with bone deterioration and that it can lead to arthritis and other things. But my dad and his doctor weren't too worried about it...they were just glad that it wasn't cancer that spread. And my father hasn't been having any pain or anything like that. He will be seeing his regular doctor for a pre-surgery physical, so hopefully we will get more information and treatment at that time.

Thank you so much for all of your prayers thus far, Richness family! Kiss

No problem Storie. I'll add him to prayer my list. They have made SO many advancements with prostate cancer. My brother-in-law had the same thing as your Dad 3 years ago. They performed surgery, and he has had no problems or recurrence since. Keep good, positive thoughts.

I will definitely keep your Dad in my prayers Storie.  My Dad's going through the same thing, he's had bladder cancer for several years now. He has had a few successful surgeries to remove the cancer, and he stays on top of it with regular doctor visits. I'm sure your Dad will be okay, espescially since they've detected it early.  But I just want to let you know that when I pray for my Dad, I'll pray for yours too  Hug

Just wanted to give my Richsistas an update on my daddy. Smile

My dad's scheduled to have his prostate removed on Wednesday, August 26th (the day of the Idols show in Detroit Sad ). But my dad comes first and he's carried this cancer inside of his body long enough.

Keep him in your prayers leading up to his surgery, and pray that it never comes back in any shape or form. I recently found out (my family doesn't like to talk about bad stuff, but dad's aunt told me) that cancer runs heavily on his side of the family. His grandma (my great-grandma) had cancer of the lymph nodes as well as other family members who battled this dreadful disease. I remember when my great-grandma died in 1984, but I never knew how she died. I just went to the funeral in Alabama and that was it.

Also, dad's second cousin has that really bad cancer (the one Patrick Swayze has) and has been battling it for years.

But God! He is good and He's a healer. So keep my dad and my family in your prayers. Thanks Richness! Kiss

Dad's surgery has been postponed due to equipment malfunction in the hospital. He was not happy about it. He was ready to get it over with. Now they are talking around September 9th.

Thanks Steph!

My dad was so upset that he got sick. He has high blood pressure. Sad I told him "would you rather them do the surgery with faulty equipment?!" He said, "That's exactly what my co-worker said. I know, I know." LMAO He's just ready for this cancer thing to be gone and for him to go back to his life as he knew it. Six weeks after surgery, he'll be able to return to it.

They are now saying that September 9th is definite.

Thanks Char. They caught it really early, so we are more than confident that the cancer will be completely gone after surgery. I've heard time and time again since this period of time that if you had a choice to pick any cancer, this is the least dangerous cancer.
