TAMPA – Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Cato June was arrested early this morning and charged with driving under the influence.

Tampa police arrested June, who turned 28 on Sunday, on North Dale Mabry Highway near Hillsborough Avenue at 2:52 a.m., according to a Tampa police report. In an arrest affidavit, Tampa police Officer Peter Bucher said his radar clocked June's 2005 blue Cadillac sport utility vehicle at 66 mph on Dale Mabry Highway at Osborne Avenue. The Cadillac was in a 45 mph zone, the affidavit said.

The officer said he approached June and detected the smell of alcohol on his breath. June also had bloodshot and glassy eyes, the officer said in the affidavit.

"Field sobriety exercises were conducted," the affidavit said. "The defendant exhibited clues of impairment."

No other details of the arrest were in the report. June, who lives in the Avila subdivision off Dale Mabry Highway in Lutz, refused a breath test. He remained in the Orient Road Jail this morning. Bail was set at $500.

June was a big part in the Bucs' 31-7 win in Atlanta on Sunday afternoon, leading the team with nine tackles. He also forced a fumble by Falcons wide receiver Roddy White. June has recorded 49 tackles so far this year, 35 of which were unassisted. He has forced one fumble and has one interception.

June spent four years with the Indianapolis Colts before signing with the Bucs in March. He was selected for the Pro Bowl in 2005 and was a sixth-round selection by the Colts in 2003 out of the University of Michigan.

At 6 feet tall and weighing 215 pounds, June is a native of Riverside, Calif., but grew up in Washington, D.C.

Agreed, but he hasn't been convicted yet, so I will reserve judgement.

Hey FMB! Good to see ya here!

I agree that he hasn't been convicted of anything, but come on......he refused to breath test, which results in an automatic suspension of driving privileges.   I can only think of one reason to refuse the test...........

At .08 it only takes about 2 drinks for a man his size.

Will probably be plea bargined down to reckless driving, common for 1st time offenders.

Bot OBF is right about the refusal, automatic 1 year suspension.

dumb ass - even he pretty much called himself that - stupid mistake.  Hope it doesn't end up to be a suspension...... ugh.  I think if Gruden can handle the punishment it won't be, but if the league does, different story....... keeping my fingers crossed.

Over and over again you read about people getting DUI's and DWI's and still drunk people think they can drive.

You have to get away with it everytime you drive with a few drinks in you, but all the cops have to do is catch you once.

What time do taxi's close down in Tampa??

One BIG problem with over indulging is that you start to think you can do anything, including driving.   The only thing that prevents this kind of thinking is if you sit down and have a heart-to-heart talk with YOURSELF.
