Buccaneers sign C Faine

TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed free agent center Jeff Faine early Friday morning, according to the Tampa Tribune.
Financial terms and the length of the contract were not disclosed, but the newspaper reported that the deal likely will make Faine the highest-paid center in the game.
The signing came shortly after the 12:01 a.m. deadline for free agency.
The 26-year-old Faine spent the past two seasons with the New Orleans Saints, starting all 16 games in 2006 and 14 last season.
A first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2003 out of Notre Dame, the 6-3, 291-pound Faine struggled with injuries in his first three seasons.
An ankle injury curtailed most of his rookie season, while his next two seasons were cut short by injuries to his ankle and biceps.
Faine was traded to the Saints prior to the 2006 season.

Very happy with this pick up. It really seems as if, now that we're out of Rick McKay cap hell, we're making some wise decisions to better this football team.
Still crossing my fingers that we pull the trigger and lure Michael Turner to Tampa
