Raiders, Falcons complete trade for Hall
Buzz Up PrintFLOWERY BRANCH, GEORGIA (TICKER)—DeAngelo Hall finally got his wish and is headed to the Bay Area.
The Atlanta Falcons sent the two-time Pro Bowl cornerback to the Oakland Raiders on Thursday for a second-round pick in April’s draft and a fifth-round selection in 2009, completing a much talked-about mega-deal.
Hall signed a seven-year contract with Oakland that reportedly is worth between $67-$70 million. The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that $24.5 million is guaranteed.
It tops the six-year, $57 million contract Asante Samuel signed with the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this offseason.
Hall, 24, was in the last year of his current deal and made it very clear he wanted out of Atlanta. He clashed with former coach Bobby Petrino and drew the ire of management for being an outspoken supporter of the imprisoned Michael Vick.
In Oakland, Hall will team with Pro Bowl cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.
Meanwhile, Atlanta now has four of the first 48 picks of the draft - three in the second round. Atlanta already held the third overall pick as well as the 36th and 48th selections.
The eighth overall pick of the 2004 draft, Hall had five interceptions and 70 tackles last season. He has 17 career interceptions in four seasons with Atlanta. _________________
