Got this email from my granddaughter who lives near St. Louis and her husband is a surveyor for Woolpert.

Dear All,

I am sending this article out in hopes that everyone who get's this email will participate.  It would be a bonus if you could get your company &/or business to participate as well.  I did not know about this until I received a mailing from my husband's company (Woolpert) about our their participation today and I am all over it!  If you can, please help by participating.  It is only 1 hour out of the entire year & it can really make a difference.  I have been to the website & Chicago companies, I noticed, have signed up in BIG numbers.

Thank you for your consideration.

LIGHTS OUT

Created to take a stand against the greatest threat our planet has ever faced, Earth Hour uses the simple action of turning off the lights for one hour to deliver a powerful message about the need for action on global warming.  If every American household turns off the lights for one hour at 8:00 p.m. on March 29, it will prevent more than 16,500 tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere.

Many major corporations and businesses are participating this year.  Corporations are also strongly encouraging all staff and their families to join in the movement to reduce our carbon footprint by turning of the lights as well.  All business offices will be turning off the building lights, parking lot lights and sinage wherever possible accross the nation.

Earth Hour 2007 was a Sydney Australia only event.  This year, it is global.  Over 198,000 people and over 13,000 businesses have already signed up to participate.  For more information on Earth Hour, visit their website at www.earthhour.org.
