When I researched him, it said he may have character issues!!....
Seems like it's getting typical for us anymore! _________________

Crap. Anyone else notice that we traded for a 5 and 7 round pick for dropping 6 spots, then 2 very good QB's are taken right before our second pick? I also read that Jackson was a low one hundred pick. (Late 3rd or early 4th round)
So we took a DB with drug issues and a WR that has a rep for dropping balls. Meanwhile, our QB has maybe 2 good years left in him. (I hope)
God I hope I'm wrong. _________________ Fan since '76.....not OLD. |

So far Rounds 1 and 2 are one big THUD...
IF the Bucs wanted to draft a CB - why did they take this problem child, drug addict with character issues and a poor work ethic when USF CB Mike Jenkins was sitting right there???
Funny how the Cowboys traded UP and took him with the 25th pick when all Jenkins wanted was to stay right here in Tampa Bay...
When I saw the 2nd pick was "Dexter Jackson" I went we got our SuperBowl MVP back... _________________

In Gru's interview on Channel 13 this AM, he said he was sweatin' it like the fans cause he wanted a WR but that he liked Kalib and Jackson...guess he has to say that cause he's stuck with them. lol
Of course, Monte was happy!! _________________

With the 115th overall pick of the NFL Draft the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Maryland DT Dre Moore. Moore arrived at Maryland in 2003 and redshirted the year. In his first three seasons (2004-'06), he appeared in 31 games (13 starts) and recorded 77 tackles (nine for losses) and 4.5 sacks. As a senior in 2007, he started all 13 games and finished the season with 63 tackles (8.5 for losses), six sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception. Moore is a developmental prospect who lacks ideal athletic ability, is inconsistent and needs to work on his technique as well as his instincts but he steadily improved at Maryland and he has the size and burst that NFL teams covet at the defensive tackle position. _________________

With the 160th pick in the NFL draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers chose QB Josh Johnson. The learning curve is higher for Johnson after playing at a small school. He is going to have to learn how to read the more complicated defenses in the NFL but has tremendous potential. He has quick feet and is dangerous as a scrambler, and he rarely tucks and runs too soon. He also has a strong arm. _________________ Fan since '76.....not OLD. |

Cory Boyd...
Another with character issues?????
nfl.com Overview
The team's quiet offensive leader, Boyd made noise pounding the ball up the middle of the line for the Gamecocks. He is a very physical inside runner who could provide an NFL backfield with the "thunder" it needs to gain tough inside yardage. He is proven to be one of the best pass-catching running backs in the college ranks.
Boyd gained 2,267 yards rushing and 1,303 yards receiving during his time at South Carolina. He joined Stanley Pritchett (1,178 rushing and 1,097 receiving, 1992-95) as the only players in school history in the 1,000-1,000 club. On a struggling offense the last two years, Boyd was one of the team's few bright spots, producing 17 touchdowns on the ground and three more receiving since returning to the team from his one-year suspension in 2005.
At Orange High School, Boyd competed as a defensive back and running back for head coach Randy Daniel. He was rated the 12th-best overall prospect in the state of New Jersey by Rivals.com and the 21st-best defensive back in the country by Super Prep. He rushed for 1,535 yards and 20 touchdowns as a senior, adding 1,785 yards and 22 scores on the ground during his junior campaign. He also recorded eight interceptions his junior season while playing safety.
Boyd earned South Carolina Freshman of the Year honors in 2003, playing tailback and on special teams as a true freshman in 2003. He ranked fourth on the squad with 232 yards and three touchdowns on 58 carries (4.0-yard average). He also snared 11 passes for 145 yards (13.2-yard average), including one score.
As a sophomore, Boyd split time between tailback and fullback. He finished second on the team with 309 yards on 62 rushes (5.0-yard average) and three touchdowns. He also placed second on the squad with 35 receptions for 347 yards (9.9-yard average) and a score. On special teams, he posted two solo tackles and fielded a short kickoff for a nine-yard return.
After serving his season-long suspension in 2005, Boyd returned to the team with renewed vigor. He won a heated battle for the tailback position, going on to start all 24 contests he played in over the next two years. He led the team with 164 carries for 823 yards (5.0-yard average), scoring eight times on the ground in 2005. He ranked third on the team with 35 catches for 406 yards (11.6-yard avg) and a pair of scores. He also saw some action on special teams, as he returned four kickoffs for 64 yards (16.0-yard avg).
Quarterback problems plagued the South Carolina offense in 2007, but Boyd again led the team with 180 rushes for 903 yards (5.0-yard average), as his nine touchdown runs rank tied for sixth on the school's single-season list. He finished second on the squad after hauling in a career-high 36 passes for 405 yards (11.2-yard average) and a score, as he amassed 1,308 all-purpose yards, an average of 109.0 yards per game. _________________

Only thing I could find about Boyd's suspension was this...
was suspended for the entire 2005 season due to an unspecified violation of team rules (non-academic). _________________

FSU's Geno Hayes to the Bucs
Florida State's Geno Hayes just went to the Bucs with the 175th pick, and we suddenly had flashbacks to another FSU outside linebacker once drafted by the Bucs: Derrick Brooks.
Okay, maybe that's a little premature. But the 6-1, 226-pound Hayes did play weak-side linebacker for the Seminoles and was an All-ACC selection after ranking second on the team in tackles with 80.
His final season was somewhat overshadowed by off-the-field character issues stemming from an arrest from a nightclub altercation with police that resulted in three misdemeanor charges. Hayes completed a pre-trial diversion program earlier this year. _________________
