Just thought a little heads up necessary,  some Ete's are being given termination papers, and some even being walked out already.

Care to elaborate on that anymore if you know more? Are these early terminations actually the beginning of the shift reduction layoff/termination or are these people actually being "fired for cause" before the shift reduction to get them off the un-employment rolls? Did you know any of them personally, were they good workers or some that did deserve firing? Just curious if you know more, I'm sure we'd all like to hear it if you do.

rumor in paint shop was that of the following;

4 people (Not confirmed if temps or fultime) where walked out for stealing or mixing up keys.

1 temp was walked out for peeing in the floorboard of a car.

We have also been getting alot of "questionable" damge to the cars in paint. Last night we got grafitti (spelling?) all over the bumpers that was bleading throug the powder.

Getting alot of well placed dings and damaged metal on places that normally do not get metal.

Inside of the doors are getting full of body shop foam, and that foam is getting splattered all over the inside door frames, mainly the front left door.

We also heard that last week, 25-27 cars where damaged in holding by having various fireworks lit on the hoods and tailgates.

A well informed person told several of us last night, that there is talk of not finishing out the week for various reasons, but one of them being all the dmg being done to the cars.

Again, take it for what its worth, but I have personaly seen with my own eyes the "questionable" dmg stuff coming in around various parts of paint.

I think it would be a good call if management cut the week short. I hope they allow enough time on the clock for people to clean out their lockers and turn in their company locks.

I have seen questionable stuff too, some from our suppliers. Remember they are loosing people too. If you worked on 11-4 or 9-5 with me as your team leader and want to use me as a job reference just drop me a PM or email me.

GRAFITTI?
ResDcc, fyi the JES for that job says to verify the tailgate prop is on "mark bumber with permanent marker". Notice it does not say how to mark, but "to mark". Did the person really vandlize the car? Also the metal bumber gets covered by the facsia and the only time it will be seen is at the body shop after an accident and the bone yard. On a seperate note body shop does not use foam we use sealer that turns into a foam like substance after heating in paint.

uunderstand that with lawsuits today.ANY type of graphitti that is offenseive to another employee could be see and harassmant...or intimidation... for example all u have to write is "F@%k Chrysler" i now feel intimidated by u...i tell my boss he has to make an effort to rid the intimidation or I sue.... see ? i know this seems simplified..but acording to forbes magizine...the #1 reason companies move over seas? emplyee related lawsuits...

Do you really think that they would cut this work week down due to the chance that cars might get damaged?  That could or would only upset the seniority employees.  We normally only get audited once a night but lately we have been getting audited several times a night.  Im sure this is due the potential damage to the cars.  I find it upsetting that anyone would want to cause damage to any of these cars on purpose.  Those who do damage the cars on purpose should be FIRED and walked out.  Yes Im upset that I am losing my employment here at BAP but I am not going to jeopordize my chances of a call back or job reference.

*Clap*  There is no reason on this green earth to damage any of the cars.  You are not just affecting Chrysler, but possibly affecting a customer if anything gets missed and shipped.  That affects customer satisfaction of that customer, that customer talks to friends, friends dont buy Chrysler.. you get the idea.  Plus, Chrysler could , and should, press charges.  A person who damages our product is no longer a UAW brother or sister in my opinion and a charge would go on a personal record insuring they never work for any auto company again,  Detroit or otherwise.   To all the ones who are leaving us and not damaging cars, I wish you all the best of luck in the future.

The bumper thing, IMHO, was stupid mistake. The thought was .."what does it matter it gets covered up"...the "graffiti" consisted of "a", then "b", then "c" and finally the damaging one..."manboob".  8 seconds with a DA sander and its gone.
I've seen management send cars through with a single weld out of the 3 being the only thing attaching the front fenders to the car.
I've watched them send pre-painted doors though that had enough dents that it seemed they had been set out in a hail storm.
I've watched seniority people miss with hammers and cave in the metal around lift gate, tell us to forget it, and not right it up...this person was in training for his Team Leader spot at the time.

My point here is, other than the potty...many of these things have been happening on a worse scale, before this week.
It just so happens that the company has decided to make it an issue.

It's sad the issue seems to be solely pointed at the ETE's.

Do they not feel that Seniority employee's may be disgruntled with the current canvas? Or that the retiree's may wanna leave them a present after 30 years of destroying their bodies?

I for one, would like to think I'm smart enough to find better sabotage methods than shitting in a car, but damaging a car in a manner that it wasn't found, only hurts the poor soul who bought the product.

I just want to end this chapter of life and get started on the next.
But we cannot have closure until someone gives us an official word on our demise.

Jeremy Cantrell

Fraternally yours until my UAW fratricide date.

Did they? Did this person get paid for the time off and is there anything on his/her record for this little mistake?
