|
|
Hi everyone! Volunteers are needed for this years Solidarity Celebration, it will be held June 1st 2008 at the Boone County Fairgrounds. Please check out the official site (info should be up shortly). Any member of 1268 can volunteer and dependable immediate family is also encouraged to help out! If you are interested, please contact the hall at 815.544.2111 or Marilyn Spradling at 815.547.2362 or you can also register via email to solidarity1268@yahoo.com (please include name and contact #). Over 4,000 attendees are expected this year so we need as much help as we can get to make this a spectacular event where all members and their family can join in solidarity. We are estimating volunteers to spend 2 hours helping, that way there is still time to enjoy the day with friends and family!! Thanks for your time and WHOO HOOO for those who gained their full seniority today...you deserve it!! CONGRATS |

| If enough volunteers are not forthcoming other alternatives will be considered, including the possibility of cancellation of some scheduled events. There is a need for 50 to 60 volunteers for this event to be a success. |

The SOLIDARITY CELEBRATION date is getting very close, very fast!
I know from the last union meeting it was mentioned volunteers were still needed.
Do you currently have enough volunteers?
If there are any spots still open for volunteers can you post the times and briefly what each open spot needs to do?
I feel many volunteers might be scared away more from the unknown of what is expected of them if they agree to volunteer to help rather than the idea of being a volunteer. |

| I offered to help, but was told only active people can... so oh well. At least I tried. |

There are still people needed to help with several things. I'm not sure if there is a list of particulars per say, but you can call the hall. 815.544.2111 and ask. As the call out said, help is needed for set-up, tear-down and operational crews. If you have the time to be there early, let them know that. If you want to stay all day and enjoy and then help tear down, let them know that too! You might be needed to hand out tickets or watch over and area....hard to say. The last I knew there were only 4 volunteers and 50 or so were needed!!! It's a few hours of your time, PLEASE call and sign up!! Again, this goes back to helping just because your Local needs help It might sound terrible, but we shouldn't worry about what we'd be doing, it's about jumping in to help where help is needed!! |

Just a question mom22.
Are you signed up to help? If so do you already know what you are going to do or are you going to be like the rest of us who aren't on committees and get the "clean up jobs?" Sometimes it does matter what you are going to do that is why we volunteer our time. I am not on any committees where I feel obligated to volunteer. I and many other people would probably volunteer if it wasn't so vague "clean up and tear down" or "set up". Give a list, garbage, drinks, tickets, food. Being more specific will get you (Just so you know I mean the people in charge of the solidarity celebration) much further. |

| I am signed up and no I don't know what I will be doing. I am involved to help and where I am needed I will go. I didn't mean any harshness, I was just making a point that it shouldn't matter what would be needed if you care to help. I will see if I can get further info and post asap (next day or so). Even though people are on committee's, most don't feel obligated, it is a simple desire to lend a hand wherever needed. No one should feel obligated though, if it's not your thing..it's simply not your thing. I know garbage will be done by the boy scouts so that is taken care of. Again, it is an effort to get volunteers and for people to come together and support the efforts of the Local to hold the Celebration. |

My family and I visited late (3:50pm - 4:55pm) with my family and it was a very nice time. I'd like to add that it was GREAT weather and thanks to everyone who made this happen, |
