A co-worker (thanks Chris) gave me some good advice.

Never Pay Your Medical Co-Pay At Time of Service

He said that even though we are required to pay 100% of the office call, often when the bill is sent to our insurance it is billed at a discounted rate which we then pay. If you pay at the time of the visit/service you will pay the office call with NO DISCOUNT!

Thanks again for the TIP Chris  Cool

Idea  I still feel with the changes (100% co-pay) in our insurance coverage, we NEED to be offered a federal health care spending account. Over 10 years ago while at Green Giant I had one and Chrysler management currently has one as an option.

For those that are unaware of what it is, simply it's like a 401K (pre-tax dollars) that is used to pay only medical bills. It's a use it or loose it account, so you would only want to put as much money in it as you know you would spend that year. How GREAT would that be to have using pre-tax dollars to pay help pay only our medical bills?

Question   If Green Giant could do this for their floor peasants over 10 years ago and Chrysler already allows management to have one, why can't we?

I received a PM from a user who was offended by my use of the term "floor peasants"

I don't mean any disrespect to anyone when I have used (or continue to use) that term and I replied as such in the PM to that user.  I'm proud to be one and without us there would not be any white collar workers.

If it makes others feel better, please make a mental note to replace the term "floor peasants" with "blue collar" every time they see me mention it.  Cool

I'll back Brian up on this. He and I used to laugh all the time about us workers just being "Peasents".

We had the "Peasent bathroom, the Peasent parking lot, the Peasent cafeteria"...etc... you get the picture.

I personally think it is funny, it does in no way point to what Brian and I think of ourselves or others, only what managment thinks of us as workers.

Not only that, make sure to ask the difference between cash pay or insurance because my Dr. has different rates (as well as others) so the cash pay may even be cheaper than the discounted rate through insurance! Funny how they have two rates for one service aye? Is this maybe why our health care costs are on the rise...maybe due to the fact that our insurance is billed for service for 1.5 people as we cover for those uninsured? hehe It's the same with my daughters pediatrician....which I think should be illegal anyways....a visit is a visit....why would it be $50 more if you have insurance? AH...it's the way of the world...just like cash/credit! If you use the debit card it's more since they have to pay the cc companies....like now some charge for gift cards..WHAT!?!? Well, maa'm....it costs us for the card itself...HA! I better stop before I start to rant! Have a good weekend all!!
