Has anyone else heard this? I've heard this from so many people in different departments that I know others have heard this recently.

I'm being told that paint and body can't keep up, but this is nothing new. I heard things can't move any faster in body or paint and because of that there is no need for a 3rd shift.

Is there any truth to any of this?  Question

I've heard this more times than I can count.  The only difference is, every time I hear it, the date gets pushed back.  First I heard early September, then November, and now January....  It seems this is just one of those paranoid, persistent rumors people can't seem to let go.  Considering how many orders we have (over 80,000!) and we haven't even started the Patriot yet, I really can't see this happening.  Until I hear it from a reliable source, I can't believe it.

The only thing I heard different this time was that body & paint even after all of the software changes things CAN'T MOVE ANY FASTER. We all know they have been working hard on making it happen. I guess I'm trying to get some reliable information about that, you know anything short of just getting new robots.  Confused

If you start with a 3 inch diameter water pipe and then add a 6 inch pipe at the end, your still only going to get the 3 inch diameter pipe max worth of water. Should have saved your money and just made it all 3 inch diameter pipe. Rolling Eyes

Running three shifts and short shifting all the time due to lack of output in body & paint only makes sence if they expect to increase the output. WHEN/IF they give up on that I assume we will hear an announcement or not.

If that was to happen and one shift had to go, I'd rather it be 2nd. Most of the senority people in the plant signed up for 1st or 3rd. I would be happy making 2nd shift pay and working 3rd shift just to keep that schedule. It works well for my family and I know I'm not alone here. Think about it a little. From a company side I think it would be a good move. If there was a breakdown on 1st shift they would have until 3rd to get it fixed and not loose any downtime. Due to doctor appointments, court and so on I feel attendance would be better for 3rd over 2nd shift therefore making plantwide attendace goals easy to reach. Most of the material shortages happen during 2nd shift, not 1st or 3rd. It makes sence due to traffic. I'm sure there is more + reasons, but I think I've said enough. Opps, a little offtopic anyway.

Let's pray they get body & paint to put out the numbers needed to keep three shifts alive at Belvidere!  Cool

Here is the new RUMOR.
If we can't get the plant running steady by June, then
We are going to work 2 - 10 hour shifts in trim and chassis, while Body shop and paint continue with the 3 shifts.
I don't make em up, I'm just tellin ya what I hear.

It amazes me how this rumor continues to flourish, even though the date keeps getting pushed back.
