Heard tonite at work that the people who were cut this week get to stay until next week, and receive their christmas bonus. Also heard again there are 120  transfers here from Syracuse already, going thru smart training, so we know there will be more cut again real soon. Also heard that the Patriot was going to go to Mciigan, and 3rd shift goes bye bye at first of ear.

Where do you guys hear these rumors?  I am amazed that the only rumors I know of are only because I have read them.  Cutting a third shift at BAP does not only affect us.  There are all the other suppliers around us that have a third shift running also.  I was under the impression that these suppliers and BAP are under a two year agreement to keep a third shift.  Forgive me if this is wrong.  Also in order to cut one complete shift all ETE's will be gone and atleast 200 or MORE day one employees that have moved here.  We need to stop and think about these rumors before posting them.  I do understand that ETE's such as myself are being cut almost monthly.  Such as eliminating the third shift by the first of the year dont you think that labor and the union would be canvissing seniority employess now to fill the ETE positions?  Look how long it took labor to figure out the jobs when third shift was starting.  It took every bit of two months.  I ask that when we hear such a rumor we need to go to our Union officials and ask if there is any truth to it before jumping to post.  Dont get me wrong I am thankful that we have this forum for such information,  but if we continue to post rumors that have no merit it adds to a lot of stress to all of our lives.  Its bad enough that most of us cant sleep at night not knowing what the next day will bring.  Hopefully some day this forum will be full of GOOD NEWS and not just rumors that sadden and stress us out.
Good luck to all of us.

I have heard this many times, and also do not like hearing it, just posting it under rumors. After 2 of my friends got told they were "relieved" of duties on Monday, my union steward came and told me there would be no layoffs the rest of this year, so...so much for asking union officials anything.

Well, maybe the Union steward was right, those people were the last, and the rumors are b.s.  That would be my guess.  I have to agree with ete42years.  This is getting out of hand.  The only new posts on this board anymore are ridiculous rumors that no one wants to read.  I can't see any valid reason whatsoever to have a rumor section on this board.  All it does is breed paranoia and fear, and frankly, I've had enough of that already in my 6 months at BAP.  None of the rumors ever get proven or disproved, so what's the point?  As far as these rumors you're hearing, the Paint Area manager on 3rd sat down and had dinner with us last night.  When asked about overtime after Jan 1st, he said he hadn't heard anything concrete yet, but he had been told that 60,000 orders for the MK74 (Patriot) will be filled next year AT BAP.  So that pretty much shot down two of your rumors right there.  The MK74 won't be moved, and considering this would increase the order amount from the current 80,000+ to well over 140,000 cars, I can't possibly see how 3rd shift could be shut down.  And before any of you start with the anti-management crap, just forget it.  I can't see any reason whatsoever why he would tell us this, except to show us that we will most certainly be working Saturdays next year.  As far as the transfer rumor, I've heard this crap since the day I started.  There's always the threat of  massive amounts of transfers coming in to take all our jobs.  I'm SOOOO sick of hearing this.  If it happens, it happens.  How is spreading unsubstantiated rumors getting you any factual information?  Ask your union rep.  He/she has no reason to lie to you about this.  If there are more transfers coming in, then why wouldn't he tell you?

Okay, I'm done ranting.  I think this section should be removed immediately.  It is serving no constructive purpose at all.  I'm sorry if I was a bit harsh, but I really don't have room in my life for this kind of garbage.  Life is stressful enough.  Don't worry about rumors and speculation!

I didn't mean to make anyone mad. I just thought that since this was the RUMOR section, we were going to put rumors in here. That's all. I get tired of going to work every night wondering if it's my last day, hearng something bad all the time, if it wasn't for the pay, I'd quit. Too much stress. Like I said, This was just the rumor section, and part of what I've said I've seen with my own eyes, but if noone wans these postings, I'll quit. Sorry for the trouble.   Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

If this section bothers any of you, please feel free to not view it. The rumors are not the real thing causing stress, it is the way information is handled within DCX and BAP that causes the stress. Waiting until your very last day of work before giving you any clue that you may or may not be cut! Even after the first round of ETE cuts I seen ETEs feeling so good about what management was telling them about their job status that they were going to buy a car or house.

I recently received someone to train on my team. When I asked my GL why did I need to train this new person, I am not missing anyone. I was told just train her! I asked if my low ETE was being cut and I was told no! The ETE asked the union and was told no, not that they knew. Knowing how DCX rolls I placed the trainee with my low ETE. After all, if by chance it may be his last week I wanted to make it an easy one for him having help all week. Yes, I have lost him. The union either dont know or cant say and management does know and will not say.

Rumors = Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.   Cool

Management would like us to only rely only on the "PLANT ANNOUNCEMENTS" that they post. Please post anything you hear, knowledge is power!

This is why I created this section and this is why this board can be so useful! If all the UAW employees in the plant passed information about what is going on in their area/dept on this board just think how powerful that would be for all of us.

I agree, many times I have seen rumors come true. I have also seen managment say one thing and do another. If I hear a rumor that isn't here, I'll post it, just to see if any others have heard it. Because like it or not Belvidere Assy. runs on rumor control most of the time, and management will lie to you and then lie about lieing to you. I've been here for twelve years, I've seen it over and over again. If it wern't for the money, I'd quit too.

I basically was in the same position as I have a person who has been with the company for 12 years was leaving our plant and venturing on a job in a new field.  But anyway, his last day was our last day before the holidays, and they decided they would send me someone over to train which was a ETE.  Well to make it silly because why did they wait til the last day before we were off for the holidays to send him over to train?  This job takes a week to learn.  Well it even got more strange because the guy was told that he was being "laid off", but he could work that saturday, which he decided to do.  Now i'm one person short in my area and, I really don't like the way things get done around the plant.  As a team Leader, I expect to be filled in on various things that have to do with our team and group, but we're held to a point where I feel we don't get the respect we deserve...but what can you do besides going on and doing your job the best way you know how??  It really is a terrible thing these days how the company is doing business with people.   Sad

Someone please tell me what has been done in the past as far as laying off in departments! Launch or no launch, management is doing as they please!
In August there were cuts for non-standard jobs. O.K. there were jobs needed to get the bugs out and then cut, I can understand that. BUT, since then we have had members shuffled, cut, on a weekly basis. We are supposed to have allocations for each team! It takes a certain amount of people to run each team, time studies done and we are supposed to have a copy of this. If there is a person on your team not on this sheet after so many weeks they are supposed to be added and it is SUPPOSED to take an act of congress to cut them!!
This is called MANPOWER people. There is a weekly meeting with management and union to discuss this. Our union HAS to attend these meetings and hold management accountable for these cuts!!!! They have to know everyone in their area on vacation, sick leave, DLO, family leave, ect. and show they need these replacements! This manpower comes from pool until these people return. Where are these cuts coming from? Are we doing 6 jobs on a team with 4 people? Where are the time studies? If there are more transfers coming in taking the place of etes should we not be shown this on paper? Are we just sitting back letting management run the show doing nothing?
We should be able to see a manpower sheet after every meeting. (every Wed.)
