|

Well, just heard the news today. More layoffs this week. Our Union Steward told me 8 or 9 in Paint and 20 in BIW, with more to come for Body and maybe (but probably not) more for Paint. Has anyone heard the numbers for Assembly? |

According to the enhanced fight website, about 173 total, with this supposedly being the last for a while. |

Sorry all, Link didn't work. Here was the page.---- Maybe something to brighten you day alittle, maybe. But the person
you liked to regard as the "Thing" got her walking papers last night,
Fri/Sat will be her last day.
The end of the 3% end of the year layoff happened last night, rumor
has it that 173 total where let go, I know of personaly of 9 from 2nd
shift paint where let go. According to Brian Sullivan in a
conversation we had last night that this should be the last lay off
for a long long time. As it stands right now 2nd shift paint only has
1 pool person now (or will when next week starts) and Monday/Friday
PT people have been asked if they could start working more hours. As
such, the lines are very very thin, leaving only the bare min. to run
the lines. IMO, alot of those that where laidoff in the last week
will end up getting called back as we get closer to X-mas as there is
alot of vacation's people are going to be taking.
We where again informed that the grivenances are still going, and
that international has now backed the one grivenance and has filed
against DCX. Might be an intresting subject to bring up at this
weekends Union meeting. Brian was very to the point that its his goal
to get people hired full time, even its only for a day to get them
there 5 year recall rights.
He also mentioned that they are strongly looking at pushing the
early retirement packages out shortly after the new year, much to the
joy of the 2-3 people that are eligable for them on my line. I have
quickly found out that the union does not like to lie to a bunch of
30 year 50 year old ladies, as they know the rule books inside and
out. So listening to him tell them this last night, I dontthink he
was blowing smoke up there arse. I asked him if they did do this,a nd
300 people left, how did they plan on backfilling those positions. He
said right now they have planed on recalling those ETE's that had
been laidoff (IE fired). We asked about X-fers form other plants and
he told us that International and the local had agreed to frezze X-
fers until a solution to the ETE's had been reached (that one kinda
sounded like smoke upt he ying yang, but again, was said in front of
a bunch of 30 year people, so I dont know)
As far as support for the lawsuit, those that I have talked to (and
its quiet a few) are intrested in the lawsuit, but are not goign to
sign there name or enter into anything while they are still working.
They, like me, do not have neough information nor security in knowing
that if we signed up while still working, that DCX would find out and
there would be reprocussions. People can say that it cant or wont
happen, but they, like me, are unwilling to take that risk right now.
If that means we are out of the lawsuit, then so be it. Which is one
of the reasons I have pushed for a open (no opt in/opt out) lawsuit.
No one, Not Kim, Not the lawyer or anyone else can guarentte that no
reprocussions will come from us joining the lawsuit, and those that
are still working are unwilling to take that chance. Those that where
laidoff this week I will make sure I get around to and give the info
that I have to (IE this website and kims number) but that is about
all I can do at this point. IF/when I (or those that I have talked
to) get laid off, our views on joining the lawsuit will/might change.
Thats about all the news I have form inside at this time. Again, I
post this with the understand this is first hand info I have heard
right from people, nothing i have posted is second hand info because
I dont always trust it. Good luck to all in this times during the
holiday season. |

Yeah, I found that and read it, but thanks for posting it. I really hope this is the last big layoff for a while. 173 is a LOT of people. I guess the majority of this must be coming from assembly, since only 12 are supposed to go in Paint, and around 50 in BIW. That leaves roughly 100 for Trim/Assembly. Anyone from those departments hear any specific numbers? Brian? |

I have not heard any numbers and if I did I would not trust them until it really happens. Why? Because I've worked there long enough to know how they roll. As you know I work in Assy. GRP 11 and they have yet to announce any team leader cuts which = ETE cut after bumps. Group 11 has many issues with quality/repairs/manpower and they have announced cuts in groups on both sides of group 11. It will happen and as I've already said, when it happens low man/woman ETE will be bumped out. |
