Recently, the board crashed and a backup copy was used. Due to this many recent users, board changes and posts were lost. I have reset the permissions for users to post, read and reply. All sections of the forum (other than the crew MOD & ADMIN) are open for the non-member public to view. Some section a non-member can post a new topic and some sections a non-member can only reply to a current post, but can't post a new topic of their own.
You can register as a member using a vaild email address and an auto email will be sent to you to activate the account. |

Here is a copy of an email I received from the owner of FreePowerBoards.com

As I'm sure you all noticed, we have had a horrible time with the servers the last two days. Our first update to you said we found what the problem was. This update will tell you WHO the problem was.
We have just under a dozen techs who manage the server 24/7. Once of which, is somewhat new but came with a long history of working with forum hosts. So, we hired him and he has been doing great.
His name is Ian Pollin.
This staff member (we believe intentionally) managed to corrupt two database servers and thousands of backup files. Ian's access to all servers was immediately removed when I was called the night before last. Six of us spent the better part of 36 hours cleaning up this mess. We unsure why he would do this but we have had him arrested and plan to take legal action.
We work long and hard to offer the best service possible and when a new staff member tries to harm the users we look after so diligently, we take it as a stab in the back.
We have managed to restore the servers back to how they were before this staff member crashed them. HOWEVER, some boards may be set back UP TO 18 days. Meaning, if Ian was able to delete some of your backups you may lose up to 18 days worth of posts.
Ian also managed to clean out the live support and email support system too. Email support is back online and the live support will be up later on.
--- What will keep this from happening again?! ---
1) As I said above, Ian has been fired, arrested, and will have charges brought upon him. He will never be allowed near FreePowerBoards again.
2) We will be storing backups on a server that only I (Chris Davis - President & Founder) will have access to, no exceptions.
3) New techs will not be allowed to access a server unsupervised. They may find this embarrassing but apparently that is what we have to do.
--- How do you plan on making this up to us?! ---
First off, by making sure this never happens again. We are known for high uptime and for offering a quality service. This is something we will have to prove to you again.
Secondly, we will be compensating users for their lost time. Even though this is a free service, it is our responsibility to offer the best service possible. We will be randomly drawing ONE HUNDRED message boards to receive a FREE domain name (a $12 value) and will also be working with our partner TrafficZap.com to offer FREE TRAFFIC to ALL boards that we host. FreePowerBoards.com will be purchasing visitors and then allocating them to your boards automatically. We hope this makes up for the traffic you lost while we were down. These prizes will be awarded to all active boards in 1-2 weeks.
Third, I am probably the most upset with this whole incident as FreePowerBoards.com is a huge part of my life. If anyone feels their board suffered a lot from this I am willing to personally register on your board and start posting. Just let me know.
We will also be working harder to get those new features done so you can keep improving your boards like no other host offers.
If you have ANY questions/comments/concerns please feel free to reply. I would like to thank all of our supportive users who wished well while fixing up Ian's mess. It really means a lot that you guys love our services so much and we will continue to work hard and earn those thank yous.
Good luck in the upcoming drawings too! You will receive a short confirmation email if your board is drawn with a link to claim your prize.
From all of us at FreePowerBoards.com we hope you will have a great day and happy holidays.
Best regards,
Chris Davis & The Crew |

As the ADMIN of the board I receive updates from the owners of the board/server/host. Below is a an update I just received about todays downtime. Yes, recently they have had many problems and I have been working on moving the board. If Chris and his Crew from FreePowerBoards.com don't get the problems under control and keep the boards uptime at 95% rather than the 50% it seems like it's been, we have no choice other than to move. Chris and his crew have been so GREAT to us and I really feel bad with the recent problems they have been having. If/when I do move the board all accounts will restart and all posts will also be lost. For this reason, I want to give Chris and his crew until January 31st to prove themselfs again.

Ok, so a few of you might have noticed the servers start to slow down around 5am. This made no sense because our servers can handle a lot and there aren't even many on at 5. Well...
It turns out cPanel, a common server management program, runs a MySQL update ("mysqlup") at that time. It keeps getting stuck and will continue to drain the server's resources until I get calls from the programmers telling me to get a move on. Well, LiquidWeb looked into this today and are doing some nice fixes. It made the boards be down for a while which is never good but I am confident that the downtime today will prevent downtime for the future. They located the issue (the update was setting permissions wrong) and are still working on it while I write this news. As you can see, everything seems to be working alright but I will await the official O.K from LiquidWeb before going back asleep.
May these troubles leave us for the new year!
