· Quote

Where is Thee "General" Holifield,

Am I alone here or has anyone else wondered why it is that our (Chrysler) buyout packages have remained the same $$$ figure
throughout this whole debacle, never once increasing and please
don't tell me about the current "enticement" of the Dell Computer,
exorbitant fee/cost for extended Insurance and lest I forget the big
WOW factor with regard to use of our Control # (vehicle purchase) for an extended 12 month period.

What a slap in the face all by itself but particularly when compared to
the gracious offers by G.M. and Ford, I'm not going to go into each
one but they are by comparison pretty lucrative.

G.M. and Ford are both $140,000.00 + add-ons. Example, Ford at last
look had 12, count 'em 12 different packages to choose from and I'll
tell ya, they are pretty damn good.

So, where am I going here, glad you asked cause here it is; at the
International Level we each, Chrysler, Ford and G.M. have individual
reps from the UAW who bargain, supposedly, on our behalf, to get
the very best they can as our Representatives, uh, that is "paid" rep-
resentatives.

Gen. Holifield is apparently not able, simply can't or has no interest
in pushing the envelope on our behalf folks. Which is it General, don't mean to sound ungrateful but you have to admit ours looks pretty sad
by simple comparison. Maybe talk to the other Reps, I have an idea,
take out the above mentioned B.S. enticements and convince Chrysler
to entice with something of substance, schooling like Michigan did, longer medical like Ford, hell use some imagination.

We know ya have a tough gig but honestly, you guys are more than compensated for the effort(s), we would just like to see effort that equals the compensation.

Sound off folks,,,,,,, it's your dime.

Later, Zoom

Wow,

Between the double posts there have been, at this moment more
than 100 viewings of this post and yet not a single reply positive
or negative.

We do, for the moment still have Free Speech folks, you know,
the 1st Amendment we hear so much about.

I suppose it's possible that we have become so used to getting it from both sides that we just don't have an opinion about the state of the Company that we toil so many hours at and have given so many concessions to, all because WE, are supposed to be the reason or the biggest reason why the Company is so bogged down cost wise, never mind the enormous paychecks and exorbitant bonuses the upper echelon, from immediate supervisors on up receives for continuously running the operation into the ground or the state of the Union to which we belong and pay different appointed members quite well for their representation on our behalf, are all 100+ current viewers really
content with the package offered thus far, the one that hasn't
changed for 6 or 8 years?

All the while our 2 biggest competitors have watched their "we can't
afford you anymore" packages grow in leaps and bounds while ours
never moved at all, actually I think we did in the beginning have an
education perk way back when this all began, beats me what happened to it though? Perhaps they're trying to wear us down in terms of steadily offering the same thing that way we won't even entertain the idea of
change,,,,,.

Remember, our Union Dues pay among other items, they pay our Reps
wages and as such you and I should have an expectation of diligent
representation, I know I do, what about you???

Hey Zoom/Mike/Juice
This is Steve. I worked in 580, then transfered to Belvidere, Followed by accepting the last buyout.
There was actually a single change to the buyout offer recently, but it was only offered to the folks in Detroit.
First remember, right now GM is talking take over of Chrysler so that they can use Chryslers liquid cash to stay afloat. What vehicle do we make that GM doesn't have a dozen of already? Oh yeah, none. So of course they don't want to offer anything now as they may liquadate most all the employees anyway.
Next there is Renault/Nissan. Of course we have already made deals with Nissan to make their trucks in Mexico at our plants, and a small car with a chrysler badge in their asian plants to be shipped here. Now they may want to take over Chrysler.
Our representation in the Union may have missed the boat on getting us anything else. I wonder if they made any better deals for themselves?

It definitely stinks that GM and Ford got better buyout deals than us. I co worker of mine made a good point last night. Chrysler has the youngest work force out of the big three. We would be giving up more than them so why offer us less?

The sticking point for me and most other people I talk to is tuition assistance.  Although an extra 40,000 would sweeten the pot as well.  A buddy of mine took the buyout at ford a few years ago and got four years tuition, half of his pay during that time with medical. Why can't we get something like that?

Just remember~If you choose to take the gimpy buyout offer, it will not even be what they are offering you after the income tax gets a hold of it.   Sad

Just a reminder~If you choose to take the little gimpy buyout offer, it will not even be close to the original offer after taxes are taken out!   Sad
