I work at TDS and got word  that as of yesterday the start up date for 2nd shift is Nov. 16. As we all know this is subject to change.
Has anyone heard anything to this effect??

Thank you!

I have heard others mention the same date, but I did not have an official source. Your supplier scheduling information is very useful since they seem to notify the suppliers before they do us.

From what I am hearing, the St. Louis people are being told that everyone will only be working for 5 weeks. How true that part is, I have no idea. We all know how many times they will change their minds from now until then. Does anyone know anything about the big 5 year plan they are supposed to unveil to the public in November? Just curious. We as employees are always the last to know...

Also a related question for those familiar with unemployment

If they run 2nd for 1 month or 2 or so, with all the extensions, what will happen to unemployment?

For example, i am into the 1st extension of unemployment, my year certification is in december.  If we work into Jan or Feb, what happens if they cut the shift again unemployment wise?  Cuz in theory, i would have extensions left or would that be a new certification?

We have a note posted in our shop that states Belividere will run two shifts in 2010.  Do I believe it?  I would like to, but we will see in a few months.

I have heard that BAP will run two shifts next year but shutdown a week a month.  Sounds like this year, huh.  Wouldn't it be better to just keep one shift constantly going?

Auto sales plunge after federal rebate ends
By Alex Gary
BusinessRockford.com

Chrysler was going to bring back a second shift in Belvidere in October on a temporary basis, but the company postponed the start to mid-November because of supplier problems.

Erich Merkle of Autoconomy.com said Chrysler likely will be looking closely at October’s sales before starting another shift, which the company said was necessary to pump out an additional 10,000 Dodge Calibers by the end of the year.

“You really don’t want to bloat those inventories again,” Merkle said. “It’s hard to judge the real demand for the Belvidere vehicles because of the volatility (of sales). Certainly, sales will come up, but it’s really hard to plan production.”

Max Gates, a Chrysler spokesman, said the company is “constantly monitoring the market, but there are no announced plans to change the schedule at Belvidere.”

Just heard from HR at Syncreon. Our callback date is Nov. 9 for process techs and truck drivers. We will be working 1st shift hours training. Material handlers will be coming in at 3 oclock. Does anyone know what is so different that we have to do a week of training??? 2nd shift will start running on Nov. 16.

Return to work Nov 2nd 6 am to work/train on days for the presumable start up Nov 16 and as far as i know, all employees with call back rights and then some were called back so all laid off brothers and sisters will be returning to work if they chose to

I guess its good news and bad news that I will be back to work Smile

I have heard people talking/rumor of the engine line (like the Neon years) returning inside BAP the plant. Once again, time will soon tell.

If this part of the sub-assy that we previously lost does return in the plant, it's would be a GREAT move!

I just called Laurie Randazzle in HR about some payroll information I need for the unemployment office and she informed me that "she was under the gun to get a second shift going and she'd get to me and what I need when she can".
That sounded crappy to me, but that slip of information made it all better.
Anybody hear anything from inside about what's going on with 2nd shift or new models, engine line, anything at all?

I did apply for the temp work there

To date i have been called once or twice for followup work

The last call i got was 1-2 weeks ago, asking if i had any forklift experience, certifications or a CDL.  They stated a Yes or No will not disqualify me but they are looking for employee info

I have yet to be called again but the odd thing(since the poster above mentioned under the gun) I was called on a Friday night around 7 pm and even Saturday around 1 PM from whomever they are to ask me questions
