User 84TurboBuick has both contract books and has agreed to help answer our questions. He has also agreed to, when needed, scan in the page and email it to you.

I know other users on the board also have both contract books and their assistance helping everyone here to better understand this new contract is GREATLY APPRECIATED!  Thank you.

If you care.....SHARE!  Cool

Thanks Brian for the intro.

Like he said if you have contract questions please feel free to ask them. I will try to answer them as best I can.

Since I don't have all the contract books yet I wont be able to answer all the really in depth questions but I'll try to answer your qustions with what I have at hand.

*** The BLUE and RED books are only rough thrown together info books used mainly to let the membership see what is coming. Until all the pages of the two books are put together with the other relevent sections of the contract it is hard to see how some of the letters and exhibits go together.***

I think its great 84 turbo wants to help membership understand the new contract but I do want to raise some concern over this. What is his background and does he have any expertise in interpreting contracts. Being a armchair quarterback can hurt the membership more than help. Especially when a large portion of the questions will come from ETEs that have never been involved with this process . If this forum is used to start a discussion it will be useful, if its used to give ones interpretation of the contract be careful

I'm not going to put myself out there as the end all be all of contract knowledge......

However, I was a steward at my old plant and have attended Black Lake for several classes.

What I will say is this......many many union officials have no clue what is in the contract nor how it pertains to you. Also, many people do not have a contract book of their own so it might help others if someone impartial to their problem can look it up and give them an answer. Many times a union official has their hands tied by floor agreements or some other "Back Room" deal you may not know of. In the end it does not matter what other "Deals" have been cut....the contract is printed in black and white.....not gray!

One last thing.....you do not have to be a lawyer to read a contract. Just take your time and really understand what it is that you are reading.
