I guess alot more poeple read this board than post. I have had alot of people come up to me at work and said they have read the post:
http://www.freepowerboards.com/uaw1268/uaw1268-about582.html
I did not post that to become a "poster child" of the ETE front. Sometimes it helps to deal with stuff if you can talk to people, or in my case, type it out. (Its a good thing if you dont type a huge post like that at 3am in the morning, plus its a good idea to proof read and spell check the dam thing before posting, but....alas)
I would encouarge all the ETE's to use this time we have left to get Referal Letters from your Team leaders and Supervisors. These will help you greatly as you venture back out into the real world and try to find new work.
Also read up on the unemployment policys. I belive you are allowed to work a part time job and earn a good portion of your weekly benifet and still retain your full unemployment. Also there is wording in the laws that says you dont have to take a job that is well under what you used to get paid. So they cant force you to take a 7-10-14$ hour job. Nor can they force you to drive further than a reasonable distance past your current drive. I will see if I can dig up some real info instead of my guesstimets here. |

Figuring Partial Benefits
Partial benefits equal the difference between that part of your earnings which exceed 50 percent of your weekly benefit amount and your weekly benefit amount for total unemployment. If the partial benefit amount does not come to an even dollar, it is raised to the next higher dollar, provided it does not exceed your weekly benefit amount. For example:
If your weekly benefit amount (not including dependency allowance) is:
$110.00
50% of that amount is:
55.00
If your earnings are:
76.50
The amount which exceeds 50% of your weekly benefit amount is:
21.50
The difference between your weekly benefit amount of $110.00, and the amount of your earnings which exceeds 50% of your weekly benefit amount of $21.50, gives you a partial benefit amount of ($110 - 21.50):
$88.50
Raised to the next highest dollar amount:
$89.00
|
So if I read that right, you can make up to 49% of your weekly amount, and not lose any of your unemployment. So for a 350$ weekly benifet, you can take a partime job and make 172$ and still get your full 350$ So working a few hours some place, you can make over 500$. Granted its not what we are making now. But Its more than you will make working anything less than a 13$ hour job. Just somethign to think about. |

Yes, the site counter found at the bottom of this page:
http://www.freepowerboards.com/uaw1268/index.php
...shows hundreds of people view this site daily. Just last week when I ordered the business cards the counter showed 71,000+ which I had printed on the cards. Currently as I'm typing this the Hit Counter shows 83831
You make very good points in your post above while offering great information and advice! Thank you. |

I would like to add that there is a difference in your benefit amount and total benefit amount.
If you have dependents you get an increase.
For example.
Benefit amount without dependents is $367
Benefit amount with dependents is $498
Difference of $131
You can only make up to half of the $367 if you contiue to work part time before they start taking away from your benefit even if you have dependents.
They add the dependents bonus on after earnings. I know this because it happend to me. |
