can we have the edit feature turned on so we may fix our post when we mess up? also we need the option to delete our post if we happen to make a post in the wrong forums.

This board requires add-on packs to allow different functions on the board. One of these will leave a tag showing the user edited their post. Without this "user edited post" tag the whole post could be changed which might in turn screw up the topic of the thread. After installing the add-on edit code, I received board errors. Therefore, I have no plans on ever adding any of the many add-on/code packs out there for fear of crashing the board.

All I can suggest is that you use the preview button before you submit the post/reply. If you post in the wrong section or want a spelling error corrected simply post a reply in that thread or PM a MODerator asking that it be moved/corrected.

A MODerator would be happy to move/correct it.  MODerators can't delete a post, only the ADMIN can. I don't often delete posts. Most posts can just be corrected or moved to the recycle/trash section.

It seems the edit feature works in some of the sections, but not all.  Confused

Brian, I see this has been talked about in the past but I am wondering if anything has changed since then to make post editing available. It would really be great to be able to fix typo's, spelling, and grammer if needed. I know there is a preview button but even with that I know things still slip through and then you see it later and want to fix it so you don't look and sound like an idiot. I am on several other website forums regularly and the edit gets used quite often. I understand the need to label any post that was edited with a date/time stamp. That only makes sense as it keeps people from "secretly" changing things after others have posted after it. Oh well, not sure if you can or will enable editing but it would be appreciated by many I am sure. For people that use alot of other different web forums and are used to editing, this is a big bummer not to be able to do it here. Just my 2 cents. Keep up the good work.

If I upgrade to the next version of the board I'm sure it would work fine. The newest version of the board has more cool features too. At this point, this is very simple for people who have never used a forum before and it works. I worry that an upgrade could/would cost problems and board downtime as I have seen so many times in the past on other forums.

I'm using the Chrysler rule of thumb:

IF IT'S NOT BROKEN, DON'T FIX/PM IT  Laughing

I have had experience with the MODerator edit feature. If you need a correction simply PM your favorite MOD explaining the edit and it will be done. If you missed an important point just put up another post with the details. The preview and spell check work well also.

Dont be bashful if you are not a GEEK. I have learned alot about keyboard and computer functions just by being a member of UAWTalk.com.
