While browsing this weekend for any and all information concerning the
status of voting as it relates to this farce of a contract I stumbled upon
this web-site and requested from Brian a Forum for our Local and he was kind enough to grant my wish, Thanks Brian.
I only wish I'd have known about this site much sooner but here we are.
I'm Mike Shumer, currently on 3rd shift, 9853 at Toledo Machining Plant in
Perrysburg, Ohio.
Yes, I know, I too am ashamed that this contract passed at our plant, but I couldn't talk to everyone unfortunately, warning them of the pitfalls awaiting us with this "Contract." I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to change everyones' mind either, but hey, we can try can't we?!?!
So, let's hear what you've got to say,,,,,,,,,,,,,, |

|
|
Hey Brian,
Am a transfer from 1435 to 1268. Let me first say, that I feel my transfer was a big mistake. Only because of broken promises. I was told by Belvidere admin, that if I came I would definitly be into skilled trades immediately. well, here it is 2 years later and I have only gone to school. But as far as the contract, I voted yes!! My reasons obviously are totally different from yours. Not sure if I knew you at TMP, I am a 14 1/2 yr employee. |

ChaCha - WELCOME to the board!
I am from and have always been from BAP. Zoom384 is from local 1435 and therefore is the MOD for this locals section. I've spoke with many transfers and many have said they wish they would have never transfered, many for family, money and miss information. |

| Thanks Brian, for what you're doing on this site. I always put in transfers for plants in Detroit, still closer to home than here. I do enjoy being here because I've met alot of nice people. But it's just not a place for me. I've also have never gotten short work week until I came here. WOW!! As I stated, 1435 also will be down to 2 shifts starting next week. Per a team leader there, there is a layoff and more members put into the job bank. So, as far as work is concerned is it better being here or there? |

Thanks. I would just like to see this site used by more of the members in the plant, but it is growing slowly both in use and word of mouth. Even if most don't use it daily, I'd like to see the day when every UAW member in 1268 would know about it and visit should something BIG happen and we need to group/communicate with each other in a timely fashion. All the information and contacts within the corporation from other UAW members I'm very thankful for too. Thanks to Google, many from other locals found the site during contract time.
As for the short work week...back on the Neon we never seen short work week anything like what we have seen it since the launch of the Caliber, Compass & Patriot. |

Hey Brian,
Sorry, been gone awhile. Yep, they have layed-off and/or job banked
about 190 people as of this week.
Been on 3rd shift for the past year but as a result of the recent reduct-
ion I was given a choice as to shift and took 2nd. We have a Union meet
this Sunday but I am on vacation as of 1-11-08, heading to Mexico for
a break, haven't vaca-ed for over a year and am in much need.
Don't know why but when I open my e-mail and click on the link it doesn't take me to the thread/post so I hope this was the one you were referring
to?!?!
Take care all, back in a week and will get back involved with the site, been raising hell @ the Union meetings, got 4 new people to go on a
regular basis.
As you can imagine, suddenly a whole bunch of folks plan on attending
this week because of the reduction, too bad they didn't feel a need to
be involved prior, but I guess it's business as usual huh. Been there
myself but haven't missed one, (well I did miss one), now 2 in the last year and a half. You can best believe if there is only person bitchin as
opposed to a group, you'll stand a better chance of being heard with the
group. Not to say you won't be RECOGNIZED but that's not the same as
being HEARD.
Later, Zoom |

Did they offer buyouts at TMP yet? Do you guys still have people in the job bank. I sat in the job bank from August 2003 to January 2006 before taking a transfer out here to Belvidere. I miss TMP but appreciate having a job and not sitting around wondering if the Job bank funds are going to run out or if they will force me to go work in Detroit. They forced us (TMP job bankers) to work in Trenton Engine as summer vacation help in 2005. Didn't know if that was a preview of thing to come or what so I loaded up the truck and moved to Belvidere! |
