Not worried - just saying that it will more than likely be much harder for him to "talk to them" like he says he wants to.

It is true, like you say, that none of them will be happy with us, regardless.  I think Barak needs to recognize that.  A world Caliphate is what the radical fundamentalists want - and they number in the hundreds of millions, and the number grows by the day.

Anyway, have a great weekend, funguy!  A pleasure, always!

It may be harder to "talk" to them rather than "bomb" and "kill" them like the present administration continues to do.

"Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God".

I don't agree with Obama on 95% of what he stands for but on this issue I really don't understand why he's been criticized and ridiculed in the media.
This is just one small piece of the much larger issue of the fake "war on terror" that only results in us losing more of our freedoms everyday. I digress.

I never quite understood calling this response a "war on terror."  Terror is a tactic.  You don't war against a tactic.  Those currently using this tactic against the West are mostly self-described Islamicists from many countries.  Their rallying point is the Koran and the Hadiths (recorded sayings of Mohammed).

They believe that Islam must rule the earth, and until it does, Allah is displeased with those Muslims who will not fight and die for it to come about.  For those who do fight and die - there is a great sensual reward, complete with 72 dark eyed virgins (nothing said about a female martyr's reward).

I ponder a few things these days - had Clinton & Bush not ignored these Islamicists and their attacks before 2001, would we have had a 9/11?

How many people killed on 9/11 thought we should talk with these people and work something out?

Who are the victims of the coming 9/11s when we go back to ignoring the Islamicists?

Perhaps you should ponder a few more things?

Why do they seek to attack us? Is it because we are free and they hate our freedom like Bush and his cronies would have us believe? Or, is it blowback due to an invasive U.S. foreign policy on Muslim holy lands such as installing the shah in Iran or always siding with Israel? Michael Scheuer,  head of the CIA's  Bin Laden unit before the attacks, wrote all about blowback in his book.

How much safer are we after 9/11?

Our borders are wide open.   Our ports and cargo that come in are still basically unchecked, while domestically here on the homefront federal powers are expanding at the greatest rate in the history of our Republic. Warrantless wiretaps, the suspention of Habeus Corpus, invasive airlines, legalized torture, etc. have all been enacted in the name of the War on terror.

We are too quick to give up our liberties that are guaranteed by our Creator in order to feel safe.

So if Al CIAda hated us because we were free they won because their subsequent attacks have led to the dimise of the land of the free!

They don't hate us because we are "free" or "different," they hate us because we are not Islamic.  Only two things will change that (neither of which is likely).  One is if we all become Muslims, the other is if they cease to be Fundamentalist Muslims themselves.

According to the Bible, being a friend of Israel is one of the few things we've done right.

Isaiah 60:12"For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you (Israel) will perish; it will be utterly wasted."

Exactly. No real difference between the two.

Big deal, McCain is a liar! Do you think the same can't be said for Obama? Do you really believe Barak Obama is going to give us real "change" we can believe in? We won't get real change until we realize that both parties have sold "we the people" out and special interest, the military industrial complex, and international bankers now own our government.

There are good men and women in both parties, Ron Paul is one republican that comes to mind as one who really gets it. Dennis Kucinich, is a democrat that is brave enough to introduce impeachment proceedings against the President.  We have to vote for the person and stop having a blind allegiance to one particular party. As union members we have to realize that the dems we in power in the white house when NAFTA was put into effect. Republicans are just as guilty for selling out the American worker in favor of corporate interests.

All Im saying is this. No matter who wins between McCain and Obama, nothing substantial is going to change in this country. We have let the two parties run amuck for way to long and it's time we take our country back.

Why is it that Ron Paul was the only candidate talking about abolishing the IRS, doing away with NAFTA, CAFTA, and the GATT treaties and our union the UAW, endorses OBAMA? A man that made no such guarantees. Why? Because we are blindly supporting the Democrats as usual. We would rather support a Party instead of supporting a man who's ideals would lead to real change.

No I don't.

Ron Paul had some very radical ideas that I thought would be good if he would be able to somehow get elected. He would never get on either parties ticket with those ideas. He really needed to run as an independant but we all know how well they do in presidential elections. I think the UAW made the right choice in picking Obama because he is more electable than Ron Paul. Why back someone you know will lose? I mean no disrespect for the people who plan to write him in on their ballot, I'm just saying I don't think he will get 1% of the vote.

That is why third partys don't have a chance.  People are afraid to vote the way they feel.  If everone that says Ron Paul is right but he's not electable voted for him he would get elected.  Then we would see some real change.

Exactly!   The media and education system in this country have brainwashed us into believing that the REPUBLICRATS are the only party that can govern our Nation.

Wake up people!

Democrats say Obama key in bailout vote switch
3 days ago

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Several Democratic members of the House of Representatives Friday said calls from Barack Obama helped convince them to switch their votes and back a 700 billion dollar Wall Street bailout.

Maryland Democratic representatives Donna Edwards and Elijah Cummings said they had both received calls from the party's White House nominee, after voting against the original package in the House on Monday.

"It meant a lot to me that somebody who at least has a 50-50 shot at being the next President of the United States would take time," Cummings said.

Obama said during the call that he would push attempts to reform bankruptcy laws to help ill-fated homeowners escape foreclosure, Cummings said, but stressed urgent action to save the US financial system was vital.

"We will work on this, but right now we have got to straighten this out," Cummings quoted Obama as saying.

Edwards said that Obama reached out to her on Thursday morning, as she was considering how she would come down in Friday's looming vote.

The bill was defeated on Monday by 225 votes to 208, a setback which sent stocks marks diving. The House was on Friday considering an amended version drawn up by the Senate and adopted by that chamber on Wednesday.

"I had a very good conversation with Senator Obama yesterday morning, and I had to weigh on that the entire day in coming to this decision," Edwards said.

Both lawmakers said they had to balance the fact that they believed that the bill lacked sufficient measures to attack the foreclosure crisis with the fact that some constituents were struggling amid a deepening credit crunch.

Cummings and Edwards are both members of the Congressional Black Caucus a majority of which voted against the bill on Monday. Sources said that Obama also placed other calls to members of the key Democratic voting block.

Another prominent African American lawmaker John Lewis, a prominent Obama supporter, also said Friday he would switch his vote.

"I have decided that the cost of doing nothing is greater than the cost of doing something," Lewis said.

"The fear that is gripping Wall Street has the power to shut down Main Street," he said.

"We cannot and we must not allow this to happen. The people are afraid. their retirement savings are slipping away."
