· Quote

Another chapter has closed on the previously employed ETE's / 119-Day employees at the Belvidere Assembly Plant.

As of September 6th their 119-day contract expired and many of them have walked away from BAP in search of full time employment rather than sign another 119-day contract.

I've worked with many of them that were great workers and helped build a quality product. The sad fact is that new employment in the United States seems to have turned to all temp positions,  not just at BAP but all over the United States.

If you would like to share your story, please reply here as either a GUEST or a registered user.

Best wishes to all of you with your life after Chrysler!  Cool

We all hoped and wished for a chance at a great paying job.  We all knew it was a gamble from the start.

Unions are supposed to be strong and stand up for their membership.  As ETEs we paid our dues,  did the work,  some of us more than we should have done.  We dealt with being moved every other day to every couple weeks and we stood strong and did our jobs without complaint.

When it came time to stand strong for the ETE's the UAW put their tail between their legs and ran.  Local 1268 did nothing.  Littlejohn and the rest of the representing members did the same.

Those senior employees who are all GUNG-HO UNION are only out there to protect themselves and nobody else.

Now see what has happened.  Not only did the ETE program ruined lives the UNION ok'd to extend the 119 day program.  That eliminates any chances of new hires.  To top it off they are paying the 119 day workers $14 an hour.  thats less than half of a senior employee.  Yet the so called UAW has allowed this.  The 119 day workers and former ETE's paid there dues to the local and national level and they got nothing and will get nothing.  This is extorsion.  Forcing one to pay out money for nothing in return.  I hope you all can sleep good at night knowing that YOUR UNION IS DOING THIS TO EMPLOYEES WHO ARE FUNDING YOUR PROGRAMS.

IF ANY OF YOU ARE TRUE TO UNION LABOR THIS WOULD NOT BE HAPPENING.

TODAYS GENERATION KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT ORGANIZED UNION LABOR.  THEY FEEL ITS ALL ABOUT THEMSELVES AND MONEY.

They have other more pressing issues than the current workers.  Arent you glad they will be handling the pensions in the future!
