I just putchased a Romanian Ak, excellent weapon, fine accuracy.........but...Trigger slap!
Anyone know how to fix the problem, without buying a TAPCO double hook FCG?
Thanks |

I know I'm new here but I have a lot of experience with AKs.
This is the info you are looking for;
http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/slapfix.htm
I know it works, I had the same problem with my WASR10.
It shoot fine now, I have no problem ringing a 18" gong at 400yds with it.
Happy Shooting! |

I just completed the proceedure for fixing trigger slap that Ak Man posted, it does work! Thanks AK.
It took two times at the grinder & range but no more slap at all, it does cause the disconnect to make a more audible click when it seats, but het No Slap! Next project is to take the cant out of the Gas Block, only I'm worried that it will cause too much of the Gas Port to be covered. Any intel on this? Then the next will be to remove cant from front sight block. |

it happens on most of the WSAR10's I have owned, it happens when you pull the trigger, then the trigger actually slaps your finger as the disconnector reseats. This is caused by excess metal on the disconnector in the FCG=fire control group. _________________ When all is said & done, be sure more is done than said. |

Mod19-4 About taking the cant out of the Gas Block.
First, you could call Century International Arms and ask them to fix it, they will usually do this for free,
The barrel will need to be removed & replaced
in straight. Then headspace, ream trounion & barrel, & press in larger barrel lockpin.
And then remove the cant from the front sight.-link
http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/fsbcantfix.htm
It is a lot of work & requires a bunch of special tools.
That could be some thing for the gunsmith to do.
Any time the barrel is removed it will need to be headspaced.
Headspace is a very important thing to do, if you don't the gun could blow-up in your face. |

Yep I just got off the phone with CAI= Chimps Assemble Inc.!
They say the gun is out of warranty and won't repair it even if I pay for.
So an added goal in my life is now to be this Countries #1 Romanian Ak smith.
Fighting the never ending battle repairing the Rom's Chimp assembabled Ak's!
Look in the sky it's a bird it's a plane!
No!
It's TPMan wiping the Monkey Poo off of the Chimp assembled WSAR10's!!!! *snicker*
Ok, maybe I had too much coffee this morning!
I sencerely hope that the quality of their Aks have improved since 2004... i have owned several WSAR10's & this one takes the cake...However I shall prevail!!!

Since there's already a WASR thread, I have a question if someone gets here before the week-end:
Friend of mine took a WASR in on trade for some construction work and has offered it to me for a small sum. Here are the details:
It is a Romanian WASR and the receiver is marked Romanian WASR 10 / 63 Made In Romania. It has a wooden grip forearm which protrudes downward, pistol grip style. I don't see any Century Arms import marks on the receiver.
If you look at the side of the trigger, it's marked Tapco and a few other parts have commercial U.S. markings (couple of them say Tapco too.) It has a rear peep sight. The entire weapon looks relatively new (maybe 95 percent or better. I did have a time figuring out how to get the mag to go in right, however. They don't just pop in like on a MAK90.
He said he'd take $325 for it. So, what do you think? And can anybody give a theory as to what this thing is (maybe a commercial build by Romania??) |

JUMP on it Enforcer!!! It could be a kit build the Roms don't make them commercially, some bought the U.S. compliant parts , when CAI =Chimps Assemble Inc. imports them from Romania they place 5 U.S. compliant parts in then. So it sounds like a kit build, the hand grip with the pistol grip on it was the going rage on the Ak kits awhile back HQ & CTD were both selling the kits $139.95 if I remember correctly very thing there but a reciever.
The 63 after WSAR could very well be the year it was made. Look on the barrel around the front sight block & see if you find importer marks, sometimes the Chimps put them there. Usually the serial# gives year of import .
Example mine is 1-XXXXX-04, 1=?? maybe month of January, 04= 2004= year of import.
Here's CAI's #1-800-219-4086, when I'm bored I call them up & give them a hard time about the quailty of the Chimps...Muhahahaha
There are a couple of mfg'ers that make peep sights for AK's.
Now for the mag issue yeppers on the Romarms you gotta have the mag just right, but after a few times you have it down without problems . Did the mag wobble any after you had it locked in? Mine don't but then I left the umilled out tits in my mag well no probs at all and I did have 2 mags I had to take off metal from the back where they lock into the mag release lever. I never alter the rifles mag well at all only mags. it jus a quirk of mine like those duck bill SKS mags I never used them only the factory 10 rd box . _________________ When all is said & done, be sure more is done than said.
