For the past few weeks I've been watching a tv show called Jericho. It is about a town which has just witnessed a nuclear attack. At this stage of the series, it appears nobody has any idea of who attacked the U.S. Still, there are no communications, very little news, and the residents of Jericho are forced to rely on their own in order to exist.
While you and I may or may not ever see that really happen, we still have a genuine need to be prepared. On most of the bigger militia sites you may read stuff about military readiness. While every free American has the right and the duty to be a citizen - soldier, in all honesty we won't be like the traditional "soldier."
For one thing, the modern military and the New World Order government will not accept a civilian auxiliary unless we had a Jericho scenario. So, what is the point of having a militia? Although some modernists want to question whether or not Thomas Jefferson uttered these words, they are applicable to our times: The greatest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to prevent tyranny in government.
In my lifetime, we have witnessed warrantless searches and seizures; we've seen military exercises on American soil where the American military and foreign militaries caputured American towns and conducted house to house search and weapons confiscations; furthermore, we are living in a time when the so - called "Patriot Act" has repealed the Bill of Rights in the Constitution.
We run a very high risk of being the victims of government tyranny under the guise of making us safe. Liberals now dominate both the Republican and Democrat parties. Yes, they will call people who believe in the militia a lot of dirty names, but let's be honest. Whether it's Guiliani, Romney, Clinton, or Obama ALL of the presidential front runners are in favor of gun control. And that alone should be a litmus test of any politician's true patriotism in my opinion. For if all we have is words to protect us from tyranny, then we are predestined to become slaves.
Bearing that in mind, most of you will find that on this board, we are going a step further in preparedness. The current trend is for people to be interested in becoming an auxiliary of Homeland Security. That, in itself, should point to the possibilities of America being run by tyrants. For "Homeland Security" not only repeals the Bill of Rights, it also sounds too much like communist Russia's Motherland Security and Nazi Germany's Fatherland Security. Yet, what we see today is people who are more interested in Mexican hunting trips while the New World Order is being empowered to the degree that resistance would be a total impossibility.
Further, in many militia organizations, they utilize military doctrine as the sole training program. And that is where our focus will be much different. You and I could become victims of a Kartina like disaster (whether it's a hurricane, tornado, flood, earthquake, etc.) We might find oursleves being told to surrender our weapons and submit to National ID or be hunted down like wild animals. And if you think that scenario is far fetched, please visit me in person and allow me to show you video footage of what has happened in other countries that have put the programs in place that the liberals in America want so badly.
While I admire the military and respect their vast amounts of knowledge on weapons, tactics, etc. you've got to remember: the American military is used to having fresh faces to replace fallen soldiers; they are used to re-supply capabilities; they can rely on more weapons being produced while the war is going on. In a SHTF scenario, you and I will have no such luxury. WHEN the gun bans / confiscations go into place, what we have is all there will be. Most of us do not have the capability to build weapons, the brass for bullets, the bullets themselves, primers, and powder. Further, we lack the ability to rely on each other for resupply even in areas like communications gear, clothes, food, medicine, and medical care / supplies.
Currently, that situation looks bleak. And that is why we need a discussion board such as this one. We might not become the victims of an outright take-over... and actually it appears that the American people might actually submit to tyranny without the possibility of any resistance. But, I could be wrong on that count. In any case, I feel that after three decades of planning, contemplating, and preparing with that kind of possibility (and many of my fears have come to fruitition) we need the information and skills that I've relied on most of my life. So, as this thread progresses, you will begin to understand how to use some of the other information in threads that I will be posting in this section. And within a few weeks you should have the requisite tools to get you started as being not only a citizen - soldier, but a basic survivalist as well.
Okay, having forgotten to log in I see I'm a guest in the opening post. But, let's get back to the topic.
There is a certain stereotype that goes with being labelled as a "survivalist," but that is what we really need to be. And what should the stereotype be of a person who is opposed to the thought of survivalism? They would be Joe Sixpack, that guy who lives for three hots and cot, a cold beer, a warm woman, and content to waste his time watching the monkeys chase the ball on television.
So, if you have to be one or the other, would you rather be known as someone who prepared for the future or the guy who wasted his time on this earth and left nothing for his children and future generations? BTW, I'm speaking in the masculine form, but this issue applies to the soccer moms as well.
My first presupposition is that each and every one of us would be well advised to learn and practice the art of self reliance. The more we depend upon ourselves, our families, our churches, and our militia / patriot brethren, the less dependent we will be upon the government and the New World Order. During and after the Katrina disaster, how many of those people were virtually dependent upon the government and the generosity of strangers to meet their every need? Would you want that to happen to you?
With that in mind, the logistics behind a militiaman and someone in the organized militia is many degrees apart. For instance, the average soldier relies on resupply from a larger unit to replenish their water. For me, I carry a water filter and water purification tablets as a back up to the water filter. Therefore, my equipment is a bit different than the regular soldier.
Not living on a military base, surronded by other soldiers, even your personal needs will be much different. Instead of relying on MPs to guard your home, the citizen - soldier will do that on their own. This means that your "unit" is first comprised of your family. And you need to have plans - and I mean plans that involved a consistent effort with practice at regular intervals. What kind of plans am I talking about?
The first plan is the EVACUATION AND RENDEZVOUS PLAN
So, what is that and what does it consist of? In order to answer that, let me give you the right kind of scenario. Suppose a hurricane, tornado, or some other act of God disrupts your community. And suppose that regular communications go down (cell towers are down, land lines are down, electricity is knocked out.) What are you going to do to get out of town safely? And what if your family is not at home when the disaster strikes. How will you meet up? How will you contact one another? Will you rely on the government or will you rely on yourself and your family?
You need an Evacuation and Rendezvous plan that is written out and practiced. We'll go in depth on this in a future thread, but basically this plan means that you will be able to get out of your house at a moment's notice (it might catch fire in the middle of the night) and once out, that there is an established protocol for the family to follow in order to make sure everyone is accounted for.
Let me put this into perspective for you. The militia / survivalist has the Evacuation / Rendezvous Plan and practices it. If his house catches fire, the survivalist stands a reasonable chance of surviving it. By contrast, the Joe Sixpack may die in his sleep for failure to maintain smoke detectors. Or he might get out and then rush back in and die of smoke inhalation trying to rescue family members who were safe to begin with. And this is just one of many differences between the type of person you can become as opposed to being one of the many ostriches with their heads buried in the sand, waiting on Big Government, the N.W.O. or the Fickle Finger of Fate to save them. That's a choice which is clearly up to you.
With 14 "views" I guess it's time to add a few words to this subject before introducing new threads on this forum.
A wise man once said that you train for the enemy you will face. Today, the rank and file in the patriot and militia "movement" (for lack of a more descriptive adjective) see themselves as an auxiliary to the existing government. And the only active role they are engaged in is one where they assist "their" government.
Being in the minority let me say up front that the current federal - legislative democracy which is owned, operated, and controlled by a few multi-national corporations is a far cry from the constitutional republic envisioned by the founding fathers of this country. So, when I analyze what kinds of preparations we need to make, my personal take is that we must make the most logical presumption that the enemy we will most likely face (in the final analysis) will be the de facto (illegal) government which will do its utmost to separate we, the sheeple from our God given Rights and Liberties.
Not having the manpower, resources, nor the financially capability to go head to head with that monster, one is immediately thrown back on their resources. And at first glance, it would appear that in a fight, we couldn't win.
But, I submit to you that you can win. The one thing that Big Brother cannot defeat is a population which is self sufficient. And so, while the basics for us look a lot different... from little things like the water filter and the water purification tablets in our Bug Out Bags and combat loads down to the skills we will have to possess, it will be that attention to preparations which will help us make it through and eventually let a rotting enemy decay from its own corruption. Okay, now you'll understand the rest of my threads in this part of the board. And we welcome what the other guys will have to say.
Hope we are prepared here as well. we have been building a stock of food and medical supplies. We live in Oklahoma right in tornado country
so for us its just being safe. We have worked hard this last year to get debt free, we have downsized things that were just taking up space(and money) we finally sold our house so this will free up 500 we can use elsewhere.
When you talk about survival and personal self-reliance i can give you much in the form of input.
I myself have been self-relient since i was in my teens,being poor and not having enough to eat and being the youngest i can tell you what the term "Hind-tit",really means sneaking into the kitchen late at night when my family was asleep to swipe 2-piece's of bread and a glass of water to keep my stomach from aching ,often we had water but no lights,lights but no water..rarely did we have two at the same time,but this of course was when the family unit was strong and GOD was still in school.At night when we had no heat my mother would boil water and pour it into a empty (washed-out)Liquor bottle put it under a ton of quits made from the first AMREV and say good-night.
Back then the enemy was the Ruskie's,IRAN(Remember t/Hostages)GasPrices and Jimmy Carter w/his brthr Billy and that nasty ass Beer.
Today the only thing thats changed is we finally did away with Billy and his Beer,thats where the good times end.

At a moment day or night someone ,somewhere could deem you a threat to there GRAND-PLAN of TOTAL DOMINION OF the FLOCK best be ready and not just your self,your wife,kids,grandma,etc..and don't forget the Family pet they gotta eat like every one else too..there's more but i 'll let you chew on this for a spell.
