I have gotten a few e mails and PMs wanting the issue of how to join the militia put into this forum. So, let's get right to it:
As you know, this site was primarily for the Militia of Georgia, but even we aren't altogether squared away at the moment. However, things ARE changing. We have plans for applications, handbooks, etc. all on the table. For us, the issue is whether we shift toward a national audience or try to play the silly game of being just a statewide militia.
We have contacts in other states who seem to be at the point we are - operating, but not fully functional as a viable militia. There are a few internet militias and a lot of discussion boards that are little more than clique groups that like to peck their keyboards and dare anyone to disagree with them. There are, maybe, a half dozen other militia units which could be considered sincere. For that reason, I don't have any specific recommendations as to joining an existing militia.
What you can do is to network with the Militia of Georgia and also help us develop a workable militia. My current recommendation is that we come up with minimal standards, common goals and objectives and work toward the same thing. Each state would be responsible for choosing their own state leadership, but in order to participate in a national effort, the people of that state would have to sign on to whatever program we can devise.
For the past six months we have tried to get input from the other state militias. The overwhelming majority of them have poked fun at the notion of organizing at a national level. Meanwhile, there do exist some form of "National Militia Standards" which some militia groups did sign onto. The downside is that the groups that initiated the NMS did not abide by their own documents, thereby denying to participating members the fair and impartial treatement they should have gotten.
It appears to me that, for the most part, only a handful of people want to organize a legitimate militia that could serve all the states and get us ready to be able to survive one of those situations where the excrement interacts with the electric oscillating device. And we are on borrowed time as it is. With that being said, I will be meeting with some of you over the next few weeks and during that time something tangible should be in the works before the end of this month. We have to move fast.

We can help you begin building one, so that when this effort is formally announced, you will be ready to merge your unit into a viable militia organization. |
