Here in the good ole US,the term is used as a pejorative against political liberals,radicals,and others among left-wing politics.The tone implies that the speaker thinks the "useful idiot" is ignorant of the facts to the extent that they end up unwittingly advancing an adverse cause that they might not otherwise support.The term gained increased use after the publication of conservative columnist Mona Charen's 2003 book Useful idiots:How Liberals Got it Wrong in the Cold War and Still Blame America First.
The term is also sometimes used by anarchists and other radicals to descibe groups and individuals whose ideology to be excessively deferential to a goverment or authoritarian politcal movement.
Since 911 attacks,the term "useful idiot" has been applied by some commentators to describe some of you bastards who take a softer line towards ISLAM,and dare i say ILLEGAL IMMAGRATION.

RESPONSE: Before shifting the discussion to Semantics and Gun Control, I have to respond to this Google search which yields the explanation that a useful idiot is someone who takes what Getaway Man describes as "soft" on illegal immagration (sic.)
I'm one of those bastards to whom Getaway Man refers to for a myriad of reasons. The one I keep repeating comes from Thomas Paine, who said:
"He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from opposition; for if he violates this duty he establishes a precedent that will reach himself."
The key to properly understanding how Semantics play into this discussion is to examine the term illegal. Failure to properly understand this subject means that you will end up supporting laws which will be used against you in the future. Pay attention to what Thomas Paine wrote.
You simply cannot hide behind the law in order to compensate for a lack of understanding about how the system works... unless you want the system to work against you. One more time, let us use a parallel analogy in order to explain this:
You are driving down the road when you come upon a car in a river. The car is sinking and you hear the screams of a mother and her children as water engulfs the entire car. There is a sign right in front of the place where this lady lost control of her car. In plain language the sign reads: Do Not Enter by order of Ga. Public Law 666.
So, do you obey the law and allow the mother to drown OR would you save the mother and her children and then argue that the law does NOT apply since it does not contemplate the extenuating circumstances?
This is the same, identical analogy which applies to our dilemma with so - called "illegal immigration." We tell people to come here "legally" and then provide no practical legal avenue for them to pursue. The laws of supply and demand then necessitate violating a civil misdemeanor of the statute in order to carry out the necessary order of business.
Then the disinformation artists con you into playing these games of semantics. We bitched about National ID just a few years ago and then complain if state governments issue driver's licenses to people who we THINK may be here illegally. So, based upon pure semantics, the sheeple accept the notion that a driver's license is an "ID Card." Did it ever dawn on you that people could - and SHOULD be able to enter the United States in order to work WITHOUT AN EXPECTATION OF CITIZENSHIP? By presuming that anyone working here is (or should be) a citizen and that is the only route by which one can be here, we opened the doors to abuse within the system. How many of your freedoms and God given Liberties will you forfeit BEFORE you try to understand how PSY OPS and these games of semantics work? How long before you try to understand how Thomas Paine's Common Sense warning applies to this issue? Okay, next posting and we'll apply the lessons of gun control to this.
