Ok, I know this is going to be a sore spot with most of us………at least to start with….heh heh
Considering what we could undertake are “You” physically ready for it???? I would be willing to say that most of us are not, myself included, but I’m steadily working to change that and so should you. The phrase, “If you ain’t fit you ain’t sh*t” is starting to take on a special meaning for me lately. In the operational world and that’s where we all will be if TSHTF unless you can bring that Sherpa you have next you to carry all your gear, you will have to carry it yourself. You “Do” have a Sherpa, right!!!! It’s safe to say that NONE of us have their own personal Sherpa so that leaves each of us to carry our equipment.
With that being said, if you are out of shape you are operationally ineffective !! That will put an increased burden on your teammates and anyone else depending on you.  I know this has been said over and over, but the time has come to get with the program…literally !
What I personally do is keep a spreadsheet with all the exercise/weightlifting I do and work out regularly. I started out easy, as should you if you are just starting out again, and worked my way up to more reps and weight. Some of you may not have weights, that’s OK. You don’t need to start out with weights I just happened to have some at home. You also don’t necessarily need to use a excel spreadsheet, just a note pad or whatever. The point is to make a list and a schedule and stick to it. This is just an example:

Sit-ups      reps     date
Pushups   reps     date
Bench      weight    reps    date
Curls        weight   reps     date….etc.

You get the idea. Make it your own and stick to it. You will look better, you will feel better and when the time comes you will be able to grab your gear and go and not worry about having a heart attack when you walk down the driveway…I’m not kidding!!
If you are sporting an extra 20lbs or better around your middle and expect to just pack up and go you better get ready for a hospital stay, because it’s not going to happen. Work on your cardio, walking, running, jump rope, swimming, whatever just start. I know it sucks working out by yourself so make it a family affair or get your buddies over and start a program; it’s a win win situation. For those already doing this; GOOD JOB ! For the rest of us do it for yourself and those of us that will need you when the time comes.

If anyone has additional input, please post it. I want us ALL to make it !!

Good post Phoenix,i'll just add my .02cents and say this subject may not be SEXY or COOL but it will help keep you alive and functional.
I myself keep some 25lbs Barbell on the floorboards next to my seat so when i drive i'm starting out with five sets of 25-35reps of one-arm upward press i drink 2qtrs of water a day minamum maybe some POWERADE(GATORADE HAS TOO MUCH SUGAR)There are plenty of ENERGY-BARS on sale at Wal-Mart cause the average joe doesn't like the taste.
But if your on the move(or RUN)your going to be under duress as well your body is going to crave energy, food, and WATER.
Deep-knee bends, squats, and yes even dare i say even some JANE FONDA  WORK tapes( Embarassed )will help you stay fit.
Start taking vitamins before the Bastards out law'em and get started NOW !

Thanks guys I appreciate it. The one thing I wanted to mention in my post and didn't have the info available at the time was this:

I highly recommend this video/dvd if you care to buy it.

The NAVY SEAL Workout Challenge with C.J. Carracci
He is ex-SEAL TEAM 1 and SEAL TEAM 6 ( Red Cell ). Pretty good creds I think  Wink

It's Excellent !!! I have used it in the past and am starting over with it now. It's all strength exercises and NO weights. If this puppy doesn't get you into shape NOTHING will. I'll tell you right now, you will not be able to complete it on the first few tries unless you are already in really good shape. To start with I would only do a portion of each exercise and then work your way up. I can't tell you how awesome this workout is.

This is just a suggestion as there are many other good training DVD's/Videos out there, but I have used this one and it WORKS !!!

Good luck to you all and watch your six

I know a guy who has a NAVY SEAL PT WORK INSTRUCTION BOOKLET,and saw RED CELL  in action at MIRAMAR says the SEAL's PT  is DEMONIC but doable.
Now you've given me some info i needed for the best DVD.
Can you tell us a little more about what the DVD teaches?

The exercises are a mix of strength and then a series of stretch exercises. He goes through various forms of Jumping Jacks, Push Ups, Sit Ups, Ab crunches and after certain exercises there are stretching exercises to promote flexibility. There are variations on leg lifts and others that only seem to have names that the SEALS use...
You know you've been run through the ringer after doing these exercises. There is a sequel to this one called PT Burnout. I don't even want to know what's on that one......LOL

No sir, I don't believe I did. I saw some info on it and thought about attending, but with current events and $$$ being a little tight and gas non-existent  I might have to make it another time. I frequent Charlie Elliot a lot with my friends and we send mass quantities down range...LOL Pays to keep your skills up and also lets me check out any new reloads I might be working on.

Take care & watch your six

Phoenix ....OUT !!
