I wouldn't have much faith in the security of microsoft's operating system encryption.  It is based on the username and password.  There are SO SO many ways to hack user accounts and passwords.   I wouldn't be surprised if M$soft provided a backdoor to various govt agencies.

PGP is a good standard encryption tool if you use a long encryption key.
