· Quote

For whatever reason you have come onto a militia website.  And as we go into our second month, those of us who had high hopes are wondering why so many people are lurking, but not posting.  And so, unlike other discussion boards, I wanted to start a thread which would be interactive without you having to actually post your responses - though I do encourage it.

This thread is about YOU.  I mean, who are you?  What kind of future do you see for you, your family, your children, and maybe even your grandchildren?  Maybe I presume too much.  You may be here for entertainment or just to find people who agree with some pet ideology you have or maybe you want someone to agree with your assessment of which rifle or pistol is the "best."  You know why you're here.  We're just a vehicle whose primary purpose is to help you along on your journey.

The thing is, most of these militia / patriot sites have been on a downhill path, losing members and readers on a daily basis.  And this is the new board on the block.  Our moderators and admin. have the most extensive experience you could hope for, but the reality is most people are happy with eye candy (slick looking websites) and people who tell them what they want to hear... not necessarily what they need to know.

And so, I thought that maybe you need to be asked about you.  What are your goals, objectives, and reasons for being involved in the patriot and / or militia movement?  What kind of a country do you want to leave for your children, perhaps your grand-children, and generations yet to be born?  Our forefathers fought, bled, and died in order to secure the blessings of liberty for posterity (their children and generations yet to be born.)  Do we owe succeeding generations that same kind of sacrifice?  We did benefit off of our forefathers commitment, did we not?

And if we owe it to ourselves and the younger generations behind us, what are you doing today that will impact the future?  Do you merely visit a few websites OR do you read a lot of different books and then discuss the issues on boards like this one?  Do you talk to your local pastor about the issues?  Your family at the dinner table?  Co - workers?  Do you contact your elected officials?  Okay, maybe you don't think we have a legal / political option left.

What are you doing in terms of preparations besides buying a politically correct, fully approved, substandard firearm that Uncle Scam will retrieve from you the moment the SHTF - and more likely before that?  Maybe you lurk for entertainment; maybe you are here on a sinister mission (ADL, SPLC, FBI, Dept. of Homeland (IN)Security, etc.); or maybe you're just frustrated and hoping for some serious answers.

Each week I come onto this board, hoping to help others.  The floors in my house are starting to sag because I've spent the bulk of my life researching, testing, and collecting information on virtually every aspect of the New World Order and how to counter them.  My personal library consists of THOUSANDS of books, papers, etc. which were collected over a thirty year period.  It's no match for the electronic box with a keyboard that will tell you anything you want to hear.  But, the old stuff is probably a lot more accurate. And that is why we keep coming back, hoping that some of you will open up and share your opinions, thoughts, and ideas... maybe throw a few hard questions out there for us.

We genuinely want to help you.  A house builder has a set of blueprints; the traveller has a compass (or a GPS nowadays); the preacher has his Bible.  Each of them has a plan to get from where they are to where they want to be.  And let's face it: most of us visit these sites because we want to go from slavery back to sovereignty but, just don't know how to get there.  Many believe that the perfect organization will explode onto the scene with charismatic leaders, a really cool website, well funded, with support from every corner of the earth.  I'm getting gray hair waiting on that myself.

And that brings us back to you.  Do you take responsibility for yourself?  Or do you allow political propaganda prostitutes to represent your views because you're afraid to make a commitment? It's a hard question... and brutally cold to ask.  But, we're dealing with your future here.  What are doing right now to prepare financially, spiritually, physically, emotionally, etc. for the future OR do you plan on allowing Uncle Scam to take care of you from the womb to the tomb?

Don't you think it's time to have a serious talk with yourself about where you're headed personally in the next year, five years, and ten years down the road?  If you fail to plan then you have simply planned to fail.  And without a plan, in ten years, you will be as confused and aimless as you are today.  And so, it is in your best interest to begin analyzing this topic in your own mind - posting only if you have the courage to share your thoughts with others.  If there's any interest in pursuing this line of thought, we can always resume this discussion in the future.

Okay, I came onto this website in October of 07.  I had heard of Militas but was never a member of one.  I am a Christian first and foremost.  Everything I do in life is for God first, my family second.  I have discussed on multiple topics here and have learned a wealth of information from invaluable sources of knowledge - my mentors, if you will, who are helping me to guide myself and my family to achieve everything we believe in.

CDJ, I am not quite sure if this is the right thread for this post, so at your discretion, leave this here or move it if is better served in another thread.  Much thanks.

I don't know of a better place for it! CDJ, on 01/05/2008 @ 2:26-PST.

I have read what everyone has posted here and I have to say, for those who have been serving in militias for a decade or more - you all have every right to feel beaten, tired and discarded.  You have called to rally any and all who are interested and the trickling effect can be quite disheartening.  I am seeing many different personalities through the postings which brought me to a multitude of questions which I am going to ask each of you to ask yourselves and then answer them honestly here for us all.  This isn't to "judge" anyone, Matt. 7:2 warns us about judging others, I am asking these to help us all to best help OUR militia grow - not necessarily in numbers - but in strength (strength of knowledge, strength of bonds).

1)  What do you personally believe the milita movement today represents?

2)  What do you WANT [b] the militia to represent?

3)  How committed are you to the militia?
     A)  Do you feel a Conviction to uphold your
           beliefs?    or
     B)  Are you trying to socialize and network?

4)  How much are you personally willing to sacrifice to secure your own (your family's own) Liberties, Freedoms and Blessings?

which leads me to this question:
5)   How much are you personally willing to sacrifice to accomplish what YOU desire OUR militia to achieve (not a militia that existed in the past - the one that is offered to you here and now)?

Are you personally willing to sacrifice:
    a)  Money?
    b ) Possessions?
    c)  Personal Comfort?
    d)  Time?
    e)  Community Status?

Respectfully,
Shyloh

A. To this one I'm not sure. What I feel it should represent, well it should be national effort of freedom loving people reigning in the corruption at all levels of government and be prepared to use all means and force if nessecary.

A. a- I will always uphold my beliefs, without them I am nothing.
b- I would like all the militias of the several states to network and get on the same page at least. (Does this count?)

A. I will give all if nessecary to continue the freedoms and liberty so my children and their's will know them. For the blessings I will always acknowledge God and give thanks.

Mod and Mesatoad, I would personally like to thank both of you for taking your time and answering my post.  I know it was time consuming and I thank you both for answering.  I, personally agree with both of you on all of your answers - My life comes from God and therefore is dedicated to Him above all else.  I teach my children from the Bible so in answer to my own questions above, YES, I feel a conviction to uphold my beliefs.  I am willing to give my life for my belief in God and in my God given rights.  I want my children and grandchildren to live in a world (country and state) where they are free to pursue their lives, liberties and happiness.

Respectfully,
Shyloh
