Don't be surprised when a hundred other posts show up on this thread, suggesting every kind of book or video on the face of the earth. What I'm going to give you are some of the primary sources of information that you really need in order to understand the basics of what being a patriot should be about.
Some information that has been shared with me over the years is great entertainment and of little value in the practical world. I say that because you can read all these books about special operations, for instance, and you think the information is great until you realize that you don't have the intel network, the resupply network, or even enough tactical knowledge to use all that information being thrown at you. What I'm going to share with you here is not about how many books, videos, or links you can acquire. It's about practical information that you will enjoy, not just keep in a collection. So, let's get to it.
1) On video there is a remake of 12 Angry Men. Henry Fonda is in the original black and white. I saw it many years ago and forgot all about it until I bought the remake a few weeks ago. The remake stars Tony Danza, Jack Lemmon, Ossie Davis, George C. Scott, and many other well known stars. After watching the remake, I came away with a new respect for Jack Lemmon. The movie depicts how one jury deliberates. Every person in America should watch this movie - especially if they contemplate ever serving on a jury. It is the best movie I can recommend to you.
2) The next item for consideration is a book entitled The Law. It was written by Frederic Bastiat. You can read it online at:
You cannot possibly be a patriot without having read this book at least three times. Come on, now. It's only 53 pages long.
3) A couple of older "fiction" books were written by Eric Blair who was trying to warn us of the coming New World Order. Using the pen name, George Orwell, the best books of that era are 1984 and another book, Animal Farm (which examines the common personalities you will encounter.) BTW, the term "big brother" came from the Orwell book, 1984.
Check at www.amazon.com for availability or contact us via PM here for these titles.
4) The last book I'd like to suggest for you right now is Operation Vampire Killer 2000. Again, instead of purchasing the book, you can read it online or download it for your convenience. Here's the link:
Moving right along, I'd like to continue with a few more basic sources for basic introductory information.
We pick up at number:
5) The constant reference resource for all dedicated patriots is a small booklet entitled Citizen's Rule Book. I used to give these out by the hundreds when I had the $$$ to do it. Like everything else, it is also available on the inter net for free. You must read this if you want to be a patriot - militia supporter.
6) There are a series of movies now on video that will not educate you, they will entertain you and your family. Think about it. No boring classes and they won't even realize that they are getting an education. These are really good. The best five of the lot are:
A) Red Dawn - with Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen - See what happens when America is invaded
B) The Siege - Bruce Willis stars in this compelling tale of Martial Law USSA style
C) The Patriot - Mel Gibson plays in this true story (except the name change of Gibson's character) about a true patriot during the American Revolution / War of Independence
D) Braveheart - This movie should have netted Gibson many awards. Based upon William Wallace's exploits, it is the the ultimate tale of a man forced to defend his country
E) Finally, not really related to the ideology of the movement, the movie Enemy of the State starring Will Smith shows the dangers of a womb to the tomb monitoring ability of corrupt government. Good action and a hidden message about too much government intrusion into privacy.
7) The next item I want to suggest might be controversial for you. It's a book, written by a man who is a Christian Identity advocate. But, the flip side to his religious view is that he wrote one of the first - and best books on your Right to travel. This guy is one of the best legal researchers in the United States and I find myself rereading his book at least once a year. The title is The Right to Travel (Liberty or License.) And my research indicates that you can get your copy from the following link:
8) A book I once read that summarized our duty to resist corrupt government. It is entitled Christian Duty Under Corrupt Government - A Revolutionary Commentary on Romans 13: 1 -7 by Evangelist Ted R. Weiland. It's been years since I read that book, but found it on the inter net at http://www.missiontoisrael.org/books-summary.php
Caveat: Again, this guy's site seems to be a Christian Identity site, so if you're easily offended, beware
9) On the other side of the aisle, there is more evidence that even a broken clock can be right twice a day, I have to recommend a couple of videos to you entitled: America's Godly Heritage and the other one is Keys to Good Government. Both videos are by David Barton at www.wallbuilders.com Beware: Barton is affiliated with Dr. James Kennedy, who is a supporter of the Illuminati.
10) Last, but not least, you should read the following 570 page book that exposes the New World Order. Fact is, it's called The New World Order Exposed and it's by Victor Thorn. Check out this link:
Once you've completed these books and videos, you will know more about the government and your rights than 99 percent of the people out there. And yes, there are a lot of good "entertainment" kinds of things to read or watch, but these are the essentials. And I don't necessarily agree nor endorse everything that each of these books or videos promote. Good luck and if you choose to pursue this thread, I'd like to hear from you here with a little feedback.
I strongly recommend 'Braveheart' and the 'Patriot'. Not to detract from the other recommended videos/books, just a couple of my favorites.
But now I need some help--There was a movie, staring Forest Whitacre(sp)[large black man, with a slight eye positioning problem, super actor] and, I think George Prepard [not sure on this one, older white guy, super actor too, starred in lots of movies], about a military coup in the US, and the declaration of Martial Law, together with deployment of the US military in the cities of America. Good movie!!
Does anyone remember the name of it? Thanks ahead!

Thanks for the heads up on that movie. I hadn't seen that one - at least that I can remember.
We did this thread on the old board. Almost immediately, the board filled up with lists of books and movies as if the posters were trying to have a contest of who could produce the most titles.
What we're trying to find here is material that is good introductory material to get people educated about the problems we face. In the alternative, we'd like to get people interested enough in current events to start thinking about what is going on today.
For instance, in the movie The Seige, Bruce Willis begs the people not to consider the military / Martial Law as an option. After seeing how the movie plays out, a lot of people may begin asking that question about events that are taking place in America today.
Again, there are a lot of good books and movies out there that would entertain us. One of the suggestions on the old board, in a post made by Pointwolf, was the Richard Marcinko series of books (of Red Cell fame.)
I belong to a group called Friends of the Library in my home town. Every so often they will collect and sell off old books from the library (hard backs at $1 and the paperbacks at .25 to fifty cents.) Anyway, I found and purchased all the Marcinko books... most of them through that program. While that series gives a lot of good info if you were in a small unit fighting Big Brother, it does little to educate people in the basics nor do they help recruit anyone into the militia.
I'm going to check out this movie The Enemy Within. Meanwhile, you need to track down the movie 12 Angry Men and let's give each other some feedback in a couple of weeks. Thanks guys.
I saw the Original B/W version of 12 Angry Men with Henry Fonda playing the role of the hold-out juror. Even tho I saw it when I was very young, now, as I recall the setting in the jury room--in the 40's, dliberating in a hot room (no A/C, wanting to 'just go home) this one juror, with the tally 11-1 in favor of guilt, says, "Hold up here..." (paraphrasing).
Enjoy the supurb acting and drama, but watch it and ponder the message!
I won't go any farther, for some may not have viewed yet--don't want to be a killjoy.

Dittos for the Gibson movies braveheart and The Patriot. My son got me a copy of The Patriot for xmas a couple years ago. One of my favorite movies. I also enjoyed Red Dawn, very surprised that a movie like that could be made in Hollywood.
Here's a few recommended books that were both entertaining and have helped form my opinions on freedom and liberty.
First is John Ross' Unintended Consequences. Warning it does contain some very adult scenes.
Second is a book I just finished reading - Molan Labe by Boston T. Party. Very interesting fictional story.
Third is another book by Boston T. Party - Boston's Gun Bible. Amazing resource of practical info about firearms and his thoughts on freedom and liberty.
Last is Patriots: Surviving the Coming Collapse by James Wesley Rawles. He recently released an expanded edition of this. I just ordered it.

SteelHorses--: thanks for the info. Unintinded Consequences is one I personally thought was insightful...come to find out it was written around some actual events!!
